WBSC reveals groups, schedule for Men's Softball World Championship 2019
 
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced the group draw and a 72-game schedule for the XVI WBSC Men's Softball World Championship 2019 - the highest-level softball competition on the planet - which will be held from 13-23 June in the Czech cities of Prague and Havlickuv Brod. The groups showcase National Teams coming from all five Olympic continents, highlighting softball's ongoing global development and reach.  

Teams, groups unveiled for WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2019 in Tainan
 
The WBSC unveiled the competing National Teams, including the wild card, and the Opening Round groups of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup® 2019, which will be hosted by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) from 26 July to 4 August in Tainan City. The WBSC awarded Fiji the lone wild card into the fifth edition of the U-12 Baseball World Cup, marking Fiji's first-ever entry into a Baseball World Cup. Fiji will join the world's best 11 youth baseball teams and compete For the Title of World Champion in the U-12 category (11 to 12 years old).
 
WBSC Baseball World Cup umpire Po Chun Liu earns IOC Women and Sport top award
 
Baseball World Cup® umpire Po Chun Liu was awarded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Women and Sport World Trophy, the highest distinction that the IOC bestows in the category, at a dedicated awards ceremony on the side-lines of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York City, USA. Liu was given the IOC World Trophy as part of six "change-makers" advancing women and girls in and through sport," the IOC said, with five others earning Continental Trophies.

WBSC awards hosting rights of 2021 U-18 Baseball World Cup to USA
 
The WBSC awarded the hosting rights of the U-18 Baseball World Cup® 2021 to USA Baseball and the cities of Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida. This marks the first time since Cape Cod and Fenway Park hosted the 1995 Junior World Championship that the top youth international baseball event will be held in the United States. The 30th edition of the U-18 Baseball World Cup will take place in September 2021 and feature the world's best players from 12 countries in the U-18 category (16 to 18 years old). 

Burkina Faso, Nigeria advance to Baseball Africa Cup
Burkina Faso and Nigeria advanced to the Baseball Africa Cup out of the Zone West Continental Pre Qualifier played in Accra, Ghana. Burkina Faso outscored both Nigeria (13-3) and Ghana (14-4) to finish unbeaten. Nigeria defeated Ghana, 7-6, in an elimination rubber match and also advanced to the Africa Cup. The Africa Cup will be played in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 1 to 5 May. The winner will be the first ever Africa Baseball Champion and will advance to the Europe-Africa Olympic Qualifier. The other two regional tournaments, also qualifying two for the Africa Cup, are Zone East (to be played in Nairobi, Kenya, from 5-7 April); and Zone South (to be staged in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 27-29 April).

Lima 2019 inaugurates Baseball stadium for the Pan American Games

The baseball stadium in Villa Maria del Triunfo district in Lima, Peru, is the first venue of the Pan American Games 2019 that officially opened. The President of Lima 2019 Carlos Neuhaus and the President of the Baseball Federation of Peru Victor Ramos Diaz officially opened the new ballpark during the weekend. The new stadium has a capacity of 1.800 seats. The field meets the standard to host WBSC sanctioned events.
 
Oceania's giants announce rosters for Men's Softball World Championship in Czech Republic

New Zealand and Australia, 2017 World Champion and runner up respectively, announced their 17-player roster for the WBSC Men's Softball World Championship, to be held in Czech Republic, from 13-23 June. Infielder Nathan Nukunuku will captain the Black Sox in his record-setting seventh appearance at the men's softball highest level. Meanwhile, left-hander Andrew Kirkpatrick and righty Adam Folkard will lead the Aussie Steelers in another World Championship campaign. 
WBSC Scoring Commission works on a new Scoring Manual

The WBSC Scoring Commission met at WBSC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, to finalise a new version of the WBSC scoring manual. The Commission went through the different chapters of the existing manual, that was solely dedicated to baseball. The new version will be a baseball and softball scoring manual. During the meeting, the Scoring Commission addressed a series of issues proposed by National Federations. Time was also dedicated to the scoring of unusual plays, in particular on how to translate this scoring into the play-by-play feed.
Japan, Mexico split two-game baseball series before huge crowds in Osaka
Japan and Mexico split the two-game international series held in Osaka. The Mexican National Team came from behind to take Game 1 of the series, winning 4-2 before a crowd of 28,933 at the Kyocera Dome. In the second game, the Japanese Samurai shut out Mexico, 6-0, before a crowd of 28,622. The international matches were a test ahead of November's flagship global event Premier12 on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
WBSC hoping to boost game in Africa with workshops in Zambia and Uganda 
 
The WBSC continue making efforts to spread the game in Africa. A total of 30 participants (sports officers, coaches and teachers) attended a Baseball5 seminar in Zambia. The goal of the seminar was introducing the new urban version of baseball-softball in the country. In the other hand, the WBSC supported a seminar for scorers, umpires and coaches in Kampala, Uganda. A total of 10 umpires and 11 scorers participated in the seminar.
Softball Asia and KBSA organize an umpire seminar in Busan, Korea

Softball Asia (SA) in collaboration with the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) organized a Seminar for Softball Umpires in Busan, Korea. Sally Lim, SA Secretary General, and Woo Jisuk of KBSA coordinated the course. Harushi Goto and Paulo Tabirara were the instructors. The activity was divided into two different parts. Theory classes were held at the Dongbusan Hotel, and then the 16 participating umpires (2 women and 14 men) took the field to umpire a series of games.
 
WBSC supports Baseball, Baseball5, Softball development in Lao People's Democratic Republic
WBSC Secretary General Beng Choo Low visited the Lao People's Democratic Republic, as a follow-up to the historic participation of the Laos Baseball National team in the Asian Games 2018. During the meetings, Beng Choo Low discussed with the National Olympic Committee and Government officials the promotion and development of baseball, softball and Baseball5 in the country. The Laos Baseball Federation (LBF) announced that they intend to form a Women's Baseball National Team and that Baseball5 will be introduced in schools.
