OKLAHOMA CITY — Four umpires from the United States have been selected to represent the USA Softball umpire program internationally in the 2019 season as the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) recently released the list of umpires for the U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup. Slated for Aug. 11-17 in Irvine, Calif, Leslie Anderson (Seymour, Wis.), John Baca (Santa Fe, N.M.), Mark Korras (Northridge, Calif.), and Erin Peterson (Seattle, Wash.) have been selected for the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup staff.

Anderson (USA Softball of Wisconsin), Baca (USA Softball of New Mexico), and Korras (USA Softball of Southern California) head into this season after having umpired the 2018 USA Softball International Cup (Irvine, Calif.) while Peterson (USA Softball of Seattle) umpired the World Cup of Softball in 2016 and 2017, and made the trip to Japan for the 2017 Japan Cup.

“Being selected to the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup umpire staff is truly an honor,†said Anderson. “I feel very fortunate to represent our country and am beyond excited. I look forward to umpiring some exciting and competitive softball from around the world as well as meeting, working, and developing friendships with umpires worldwide.â€

“I am both honored and humbled for being selected to work this event,†said Baca. “Being able to represent the U.S. is such an honor, and is a sign that hard work and commitment pays off. I am looking most forward to working these top level games with other umpires from around the world, and having the ability to learn from them and make new friendships.â€
