OKLAHOMA CITY — The 2020 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) will bring the “Stand Beside Her” tour through Georgia in early April for exhibition contests in Columbus and Woodstock. Both locations join the list of cities that will host USA Softball on the “Stand Beside Her” tour, which is a nation-wide tour featuring the 2020 WNT as the team prepares for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“As athletes, we love that the tour allows us the opportunity to visit so many places across the country,” said 2020 WNT member, Cat Osterman. “Southern hospitality is a real thing, and we received such a warm welcome in Columbus last summer. We are excited to return to the city where Olympic softball started. It’s fun to have that history as part of our tour to Tokyo.”

Hosted by USA Softball of Georgia, the U.S. will play a pair of solo exhibition games, first in Columbus, Ga. on Friday, April 3 and then Woodstock, Ga. on Sunday, April 5.

“USA Softball of Georgia wants to thank USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball, for selecting Georgia to host two stops on the USA Softball Olympic Team's ‘Stand Beside Her’ tour,” said USA Softball of Georgia Commissioner, Al Dattolo. “Both cities are longtime supporters of USA Softball and Columbus was the host site of the inaugural Olympic softball competition in 1996. We are honored to have been selected to host two tour stops in our state, and we are excited to provide a memorable experience to everyone.”

Columbus, Ga. will host Team USA on April 3 for a doubleheader with game one will taking place at 5 p.m. ET and the second game approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Both contests will be played at South Commons Softball Complex (400 4th St., Columbus, Ga. 31901) which recently hosted the 2019 USA Softball International Cup and served as the site of the 1996 Olympic Games for the sport of softball. Tickets are now on sale at ColumbusGaSports.com through March 31, 2020.  VIP tickets are $25 and General Admission tickets available for $15 while children 5-and-Under are free. Groups with 20 or more can purchase discounted tickets for $10 per person.

“Women’s National Team Head Coach Ken Eriksen referred to our complex as the ‘Cathedral of Softball’, and we are pleased to be privileged to host this prestigious event in Columbus,” said Columbus Sports Council Executive Director, Merri Sherman. “We plan to offer an extraordinary experience for the National Team and all those in attendance."

From Columbus, Team USA will head to Woodstock, Ga. on April 5 for a doubleheader with game one will taking place at 1 p.m. ET and the second game approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The games will be played at Twin Creeks Softball Complex (250 Brooke Blvd) and tickets are now on sale at CRPA.net. Advanced tickets start at $15 for youth and senior citizens while adults are $20 and children 5-and-Under are free. Groups with 15 or more can purchase discounted tickets for $10 per person. Tickets will also be on sale on site the day of the tour stop and will be $20 for youth and senior citizens and $25 for adults.

“On behalf of the residents of Cherokee County we are thrilled to have this opportunity to host the USA Softball Women's National Team at beautiful Twin Creeks Softball Complex,” said Cherokee Parks and Recreation Agency Director of Athletics, Jay Worley. “We look forward to hosting the world's greatest athletes in our community.”

With the return of softball to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games program, the “Stand Beside Her” tour provides much-needed training and competition for the 2020 WNT in their preparation for the Olympic Games while also giving fans a chance to watch the Red, White and Blue in person. Olympic competition will start July 22, 2020 with the Gold Medal Game being played on July 28.

The “Stand Beside Her” tour evokes a powerful message of unity aimed to inspire communities to stand beside HER – the members of the WNT, America and the future generation of female athletes.

Additional stops for the “Stand Beside Her” tour will be announced at a later date. For more information on the “Stand Beside Her” tour, please visit StandBesideHerTour.com.
