The 2022 edition of the Peligro Fastball Tournament is all set to go and it is going to be a dandy! An impressive list of international players and teams, a world class group of veteran ISC umpires under the leadership of Jon Hand, a $10,000 travel prize purse, a legendary piece of New York real estate to play on in the Bronx, and the most vibrant city in the world as the backdrop…what more can you ask for in the name of fastball excitement? IT’S GONNA BE HUUUUGE !!!
How often do you get a chance to be part of a field that includes 5 of the top 6 ISC teams in the game going head-to-head in a club tournament? The New York Gremlins, Kitchener Hallman Twins, J+B Painters, AWP Lumberjacks and Circle Tap Dukes are all in. Add to that Team Dominicana , and Venezuelan teams Loyalty from Orlando, Fla and Spray Foam based out of New Rochelle. All eight teams combined and it is a tossed salad of international superstars.
Peligro is an eight team, two division, round robin format with the top 3 teams in each division participating in a single knock out playoff round concluding on Sunday afternoon with a 2:30 final. The fourth-place teams will battle it our for their own consolation prize on Saturday evening. There will be a special prize also given out to both the top pitcher and leading hitter of the event.
A true highlight of the weekend will be the opening 4 games played on the evening of Thursday, June 30 and Friday July 1st at the site of old Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx. Not often do softball players get to run out on the footprint left by legendary New York Yankees, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle, and the new Yankee Stadium watching from across the street.
Host hotel for the weekend is the Mitchell Executive Hotel, Fort Lee, NJ with alternative lodging available at both the Fort Lee Hyatt and the Doubletree, Fort Lee. There will be shuttles running from the hotels to the ball park all weekend so a great opportunity to avoid any traffic or parking dilemmas.
Tournament hosts Peligro Sports, New York have put a tremendous amount of work into reviving one of the games great club tournaments for the fans of New York and area. They have invested in putting a great product on the field, a tremendous prize package, a world class umpiring crew and certainly the best in accommodations, access and entertainment. The lively fan base of local Dominicans, Venezuelans and native New Yorkers will make the atmosphere feel like a 4th of July party…don’t miss it !
