Dan Donahue played minor softball in Hespeler, winning an OASA Juvenile “B:” title in 1962 and as a member of the Hespeler Simplicity team, an OASA Intermediate “B:” crown in 1973 and the OASA Intermediate “A” title with Owen Sound King Farms in 1977. In 1984, Dan was selected to play for Team Canada winning a silver medal. Dan shared that he played or coached in 50 tournaments, including nationals and internationally, and “the hardest championship to win was an OASA title”.

Bill Simpson has, for the better part of the past half-century, been a sportsman of impact in Ontario softball. Devoting his time to his hometown of Owen Sound, the community has hosted eight national and 13 provincial championship tournaments at all age levels. As a player, coach and sponsor he has been part of 26 OASA provincial championships. Many players who have donned Owen Sound uniforms have attended Softball Canada camps and ISF world championships.

Bill’s life-long objective is to maintain the game in Owen Sound and area and his commitment is “This is the best game on Earth, and I have never left and will never leave.”
