Canada Wins Two Super Round Games at the
2026 Men’s Pan American Softball Championship
Monteria, Colombia - The Quick Story:
Canada improved its Super Round record to 4-2 after a pair of 4-0 wins against the United States and Panama on Thursday. In the first game against the United States, Canada opened the scoring in the top of the sixth inning on route to the victory and then scored early and hung on to beat Panama later in the evening.
Key Moments – Game 1 vs. United States:
Both teams were unable to score through five innings, with Canada’s Devon McCullough and USA’s Marco Diaz keeping opposing hitters off balance. Canada finally opened the scoring in the top of the sixth, when Canada loaded the bases with three walks before scoring on a passed ball followed by a two-run single by Quinten Bruce. Canada added an insurance run in the seventh when Denny Benson tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Derek Hyde. The Americans got a pair of walks to start the bottom of the seventh, but Justin Schofield retired the next three hitters to close out the game.
Notes:
- Canada outhit the United States 3-2, with Canada’s hits coming off the bat of Denny Benson, Max Major and Quinten Bruce.
- Devon McCullough gave Canada five strong innings in the pitcher’s circle, allowing only two hits and three walks to go along with 10 strikeouts.
- Tyler Randerson pitched the sixth inning before Schofield earned the save by getting the last three outs.
Key Moments – Game 2 vs. Panama:
Canada got the offence going early, with Nick White dropping a bunt single followed by a walk by Mitch McKay before Quinten Bruce drove both in with a double. Denny Benson hit an RBI triple in the third, and Jordan Pomeroy smashed a solo homerun in the fourth to complete the scoring. Justin Schofield and Jordan Hudson combined for a two-hitter.
Notes:
- Justin Schofield was fantastic in the pitcher’s circle, allowing only one hit and striking out 10 batters over five innings.
- Jordan Hudson registered the two-inning save, allowing one hit and striking out three more.
- Quinten Bruce went two-for-two with a double, a walk and two runs batted in, with Pomeroy adding a homerun and Benson hit an RBI triple.
- Nick White, Mitch McKay and Justin Laskowski all chipped in with a single.
Box Score: Canada 4 vs. Panama 0 Canada (4-2) will finish the Super Round against the Dominican Republic (2-4) at 10:00am EST, followed by an evening game against Argentina (5-1) at 7:00pm EST on Friday.
