Gamereports on Venezuela - Decos EHS and Decos EHS - Czech Republic

Decos EHS loses close game to Venezuela 3-1

The current PanAm Champion Venezuela came out strong defensively when Jhon Garcia struck out the side in the first two innings. He was hitting his spots very well and the Decos EHS offense was shut down.

Venezuela scored three runs on a couple of hits of young Kiwi Jared Welsh. Welsh had a more then decent performance against a very good batting line up. Welsh took 7k's and was able to keep Decos EHS in the game. Pim Winkel hit a line drive to right field in the fourth.

First baseman Rody hit a deep high fly ball to left field in the sixth which was mis played by the left fielder due to the sun. This allowed Rody Stam to score the only Decos EHS run. Although we lost our second game in a row, we played well and are able to keep up with the big teams.

Decos EHS beats Czech Republic 5-1

For Decos EHS this was a very special game against the Czech National Team. Especially for Decos EHS' Czech player Matyas Prochazka. Prochazka used to be on the National Team but can't be part of it anymore due to other committments.

Doug Gillis started for Decos EHS and pitched a great game. Doug took 13K's and the Czech's only managed to get 2 hits. Doug is still suffering from a groin injury but is getting back strong.

After 4,5 scoreless inning Matyas Prochazka got into the game for Jeffry Visser who suffered an arm injury. Prochazka got on base with a single to right field followed by a SAC bunt by Anthony Beaumont that moved Prochazka to second. A single to CF by Dave Hazel scored Prochazka.

After Gillis struck out the Czech side in the sixth, the Decos EHS offense exploded with 4 runs. Rody Stam hit a double to CF which forced Czech Rep to make a defense change. Pitcher Roman Matuska was substitued by Jaroslav Brenick. Michael Cameron put down a SAC bunt followed by a throwing error which moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Good old Pim winkel hit a single to right field that scored both runners.

Matyas Prochazka stepped up to the plate and took his moment of glory. a line drive HR which scored Pim Winkel as well.. According to Matyas he is now an enemy of the Czech State!!

Anthony Beaumont and Eric Zomerdijk followed with singles but were left on base.

Czech Rep got an unearned ron back in the 7th. David Mertl got on base on a HBP, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an error. Gillis finished the game well on a grouder to 1st base.

A great win by Decos EHS that finally got the bats going
