The Jarvis Merchants traveled to Midland, Michiganfor a 4 game exhibition series on the weekend and came away with a 2 and 2record.

 

Game# 1 vs Michigan Twisters

Jarvis – 6

Twisters – 0

WP- Andrew Phibbs 5 1/3I, 1H, 11k, 2W

Brian Urquhart 1 2/3I, 0H, 3K, 1W

Jarvis scored once in the first when Pat Graham led off thegame with a single, was sacrificed to 2^nd and eventually scored on apassed ball.  The score remained 1-0 until the 5^th when Grahamwalked, went to 2^nd on a passed ball and scored on an RBI single byChad Staats.  Jarvis completed the scoring in the 6^th whenAllan Phibbs walked, was sacrificed to 2^nd and scored on a single byMatt Lyon.  John Brunton singled to put runners and first and third. Graham doubled scoring two and Staats singled in Graham to round out thescoring.  Andrew Phibbs cruised through the first five innings aftergiving up a lead-off base hit.  Brian Urquhart came on in relief to getthe final five outs.

 

Graham – 3 for 3, 3 runs, 2 rbi

Staats – 2 for 2, 2 rbi

Lyon  - 2for 3, rbi

 

 

Game #2 vs Midland Explorers

Jarvis – 4

Midland – 1

Jarvis broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 5^thwhen Pat Graham singled with two out, went to 2^nd on a walk to ChadStaats and scored on a single by Brad Robinson.  Staats would later scoreon a misplayed ground ball to give Jarvis a 2-0 lead.  The Merchants wouldadd two runs in the 7^th when Graham doubled, was sacrificed to 3^rdand scored on a single by John Brunton.  Allan Phibbs would double inBrunton.  Midlandbroke the shut out bid with a double by Kyle Beane and an RBI single by SteveRoberts.

 

Graham – 3 for 4, 2 runs

Phibbs – 2 for 3, rbi

 

Game #3 vs Midland

Midland – 5

Jarvis – 1

Lp- Brian Urquhart 5I, 4R, 9H, 7k, 1w

     Brad Robinson 2I, 1R, 1H, 3k, 2w

 

Midland took thelead on a solo HR by Craig Crawford in the top of the first inning.  Jarvisreplied in the bottom half as Staats singled and scored on an RBI double byBrad Robinson. Midlandregained the lead in the 3^rd after Crawford singled and scored on aRoberts RBI single.  Steve Schultz would single and score in the 4^thto give Midlanda 3-1 lead.  Eddy Kettlehut singled and scored in the 5^th. Steve Roberts would hit a solo HR in the 7^th to round out thescoring.

 

Robinson – 2 for 3, RBI

Greg Courneyea – 1 for 2, double

 

Game #4 vs Twisters (5 inn.)

Twisters – 3

Jarvis – 0

Wp- Rick Engle 5I, 0R, 2H, 0K, 0W

Lp- Brad Robinson 4I, 3R, 4H, 4k, 3W

The Twisters scored once in the 2^nd and twice andthe 4^th for the 3-0 win.  Rino Dambrosio singled in the 2^ndand Pat Graham singled in the 3^rd for the lone Merchants hits asthey were unable to find any holes in a quick 5 inning game. 

Jarvis returns to action this weekend at the Monkton WorldSeries of Fastball where they will play The Farm, Orillia, and the Broken Bow Gremlins.
