10th Annual World Series of Fastball

 -  With less than three weeks to go before the first pitch is thrown atthe longest running Major Men’s Elite Fastball Tournament in Ontario, theorganizing committee is hard at work getting everything in place.  On theweekend of July 13th to 15th, the 10th Annual World Series of Fastball will take place atKitchenerPark in OrilliaOntario, Canada. This is an opportunity to see the very best men’s fastball players in the world, as many of the world’sNational Team players will be competing on their various club teams.
                       
Ten teams will compete towin the prestigious tournament title and a share of the prize purse.

6.         AspenBlack Sox, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Currently ranked # 9  (NEW)

This year for the round-robin portion of the schedule,the teams will be split into a Canadian division and an Americandivision.  This is a first for the annual tournament and it will justintensify the competition.  The top three teams from each division willadvance to the playoff round which will begin at 9:00 AM Sunday morning.
The host team of the World Series of Fastball, theOrillia Quaker River Sharks will enter the tournament as the # 1 ranked team inthe World and the pre-tournament favourite to become the first Canadian team tocapture the championship.  However, the competition will be very evenlymatched and there will be no easy games in any teams schedule.
 
As good as the action is already at the World Seriesof Fastball, the organizing committee has worked very hard to add even moreexcitement to the weekend.  This year, the tournament will kick off with adouble header on Thursday, July 12th at Kitchener Park in Orillia. The Orillia Quaker River Sharks (the current # 1 ranked team in the World) willbe on hand to take on the Palermo Athletics.  Games will begin at 7:00 PM and entry into the games will be free.
 
The actual Tournament games will get under way on bothdiamonds at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 13.  Round-robin action willcontinue throughout Saturday.  The playoff round will start at 9:00 AM on Sunday, with the championship game scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM.
 
This year, we have been joined by two neworganizations that will be on hand throughout the weekend.  Information Orilliawill be on hand maintaining the gates throughout the weekend, and the RamaraYouth Fastball League will be assisting in the set-up of the park, as well asselling 50/50 tickets throughout the weekend.  We will be setting up alarge silent auction within the merchandise tent with everything from giftcertificates, to local businesses, to overnight accommodations at variousresorts throughout Ontario.
 
The World Series of Fastball continues to be anexciting, fun-filled event that the whole family can enjoy.  Come on outand watch these exceptional, talented athletes compete for the coveted WorldSeries of Fastball Championship.
