Napanee Express Capture Midget Elim Top Seeding

The Napanee Express celebrated Canada Day and won the Vin Walker Midget Elimintion Plaque with a perfect weekend in sunny Owen Sound. The Express won all 5 games including an 11-0 whitewashing of the Linwood Chiefs in the final.  Earlier victories over Ponsonby, Newmarket, Paris and Linwood put them into the championship game. Luke Leahy of Napanee received the  Barry Ellerbeck trophy as the tournament's top pitcher.  Linwood (4-2) will join third place finisher Chepstow Colts (4-2) in representing Ontario at the Midget Nationals in August.  Fourth and fifth place finishers Brantford Heat (5-2) and the Paris Predators (2-2) will play in the Eastern Canadians in Nova Scotia as our Ontario representatives. Kitchener Kolts, Newmarket Stingers and the Ponsonby Midgets rounded out the top 8 midget teams who will compete for the Provincial "A" series crown July 28-29 in Paris.  The other teams will be competing for the "B/C' provincial championships in Stratford on July 28-29.   Hickson Midgets, the ORSA rep team , enjoyed a 2-2 record in their competitive games at the tournament.  In all 20 teams competed in the three day tournament held at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound which proved to be a superb venue for the fastball challenge.
