Serge Laflamme is back

Serge Laflamme is back
 
After a brief interuption in his career, Serge Laflamme, umpire at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Summer Games, is coming back where he stopped in 2005. Well known around the world as one of most professional umpire, and inducted to the Softball Quebec Hall of Fame in 2004, Serge wa selected by Softball Canada as one of the canadian umpires at the Canada Cup, in Surrey, B.C.
 
This competition showed some of the best teams in the world, especially 6 of the 8 teams who will participate at the next Summer Olympic Games, in China in 2008. Serge worked the final game as plate umpire and he told us that some memories from his olympic experience came back in his mind.
 
Serge was working at the World Series of Fastball, in Orillia and will be working also at the next ISC World Championships, in Kitchener.
 
« I had to stop and evaluate my priorities. That’s what I did in the last two years and I still thinking of them this season. I have the chance to work some of the best tournaments in the world with great umpires and friends and this is something I appreciate.
 
Serge still umpiring local leagues at home, in the area of Quebec City, and it is amazing to see how he enjoys working and how he works with simplicity and professionnalim. He doesn’t hesitate to give back his experience to other officials and to show then his motivation and his dedication to the sport.
 
Sere worked at the last Softball Canada Blue Convention, held in Quebec City. It was the first one in the provincew of Quebec and it was a great success. Serge was honoured at this Convention for the work he did for many years in softball as volunteer and umpire.
 
International instructor, Serge gave clinics in Europe (Italy), and was a speaker at their annual convention. 
 
Serge told us that he began to write his memories about softball experiences, when he started umpiring at 13 y.o. « I just want to let everybody know that, with patience, hard work, motivation and especially enjoynement, everybody can acheive goals and dreams.».
 
Serge is giving conferences to different organizations or companies, on his olympic experiences, motivation or on how to fix and reach personnal goals.
 
We will see Serge working this season and we wish him the best in reaching his next goals.
