The DeKalb Hustle Hogs Fastball team is entering their ninth season. In preparation for the upcoming season the Hogs will release player spotlights each week leading up to the team's first games in late April. Three players will be spotlighted each week.

This week's player spotlights are on Sean Cavasos, Tim Murphy and John Colvin.

Sean Cavasos (OF) Cavasos led the Hogs in walks in 2005. Cavasos can play 4-5 different positions including catcher. Hogs' skipper Matt Smith states that, "Sean's ability to switch over from right to left handed and slap-hit combined with his speed makes him a tough out." Cavasos' slap hitting and strong right handed stick helped his .321 OBA in the '05 campaign.

Tim Murphy (P) The Hogs are counting on big things from pitcher Tim Murphy in 2006. He won the NAFA A World Series Championship in 2003 and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Pitcher. Murphy is a hard throwing right hander that has suffered knee inflammation the past two seasons but has made the commitment to rehab for the '06 season. He seems to show no effects on the bothersome knee. Murphy can also contribute at the plate adding power to the Hogs lineup.

John Colvin (OF) Colvin continues to improve his hitting every season. The speedy outfielder worked his way back last season after tearing his ACL in 2004. By the end of the 2005 season he had fully recovered and became a tough out for the Hogs. Also, John's outfield play improves with every game.

The Hogs open their season with a set of exhibition games on April 29th and April 30th in Cortland, Il which is right outside of DeKalb.
