Up-to-Date Painting Fastpitch ... ISC II roster & schedule

Thisyear’s Up-to-Date Painting Fastpitch team has been re-vitalized with the additionof both youth and experience.  Outfielder Mike Gohsman has been welcomedback to the team after a six year absence.  Mike will add valuabletop-level experience to the team, as well as a strong bat in the middle of thelineup.  In addition, the team welcomes a rising star in infielder BrianJammer, formerly of the Frankenmuth Driving Schoolclub.  Brian has developed quickly over the past couple years.  Hisbat will also pace the middle of the UTD lineup.  Finally, outfielder PatMurtha and utility player Nick Borcherding will also add to the team’s speedand depth.

Returningthis year, after playing with the team for ASA tournaments last year, will bepitcher/DH Jim Yates (London, OH), formerly of the Orr Park Knights.  Jim’spresence on the team, last year, was felt both on the field and in the dugout.  Jimproved to be both a strong player and an even better teammate.  This year,Jim brings with him both pitcher Ed Cable and utility player Mark Gonce frommid-Ohio.  Ed and Mark helped lead the Columbus Cyclones to 3^rdplace in the ASA C National tournament last year.  Ed will providevaluable experience and depth on the mound, while Mark will add experience atboth the catching and outfielder positions.

UTD hasplanned a mixed schedule of Michigan ISC Thumb travel league games and invitationaltournaments and will represent the league in the 2006 ISC II TOC tournament. The team is also looking to rebound after a disappointing 2-2 finish at lastyear’s ASA B National tournament by making a run at the ISC II TOC topspot.

Theteam will also play host to the Pete Schwab Memorial Fastpitch tournament heldin Frankenmuth’s Heritage Park, July 14-16.  Afew spots are still available in the strong ISC II level field.  Interestedteams should contact me as soon as possible to reserve a spot (david.r.lach@delphi.com).
