The first game of the morning saw the Aspen Selects squeak out a 3-0 win over Kitimat. Devon McCullough allowed only two runners past first to earn the four hit shutout and spoil a great effort by Rockies pitcher Brodie Marshall who held the Selects to 6 hits. Leduc’s bat stayed hot against as they scored 8 runs on 9 hits in just 5 innings and beat Chepstow 8-1. Tanner Nault led the attack with a 2 run homerun and Bobby Spigot chipped in with 2 RBI.

The 11:00 game saw the Linwood Chiefs explode for 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to come from behind and claim a 6-3 victory over the Calgary Rockies. Brian Culliton did most of the damage with a 3 run triple. At 11:30 Dustin Keshane pitched the Saskatchewan Chiefs to a 4-3 victory over Napanee Express. Denis Iron was the big man at the plate for the Chiefs recording 2 RBI and scoring 2 runs, Joran Graham responded for the Express with a 2 run homerun.

At 1:00, the runs came fast and furious as Mike Oakes Welding Selects beat Quebec 9-8. Steven Loitz led the attack with a single and triple and 4 RBI, and Mathieu Roy countered with 3 hits for Quebec. Patrick Burns closed the game with a perfect 7th. At 1:30 Sooke tried to ride the arm of Scott Lieph one more time, but a 9 batter 3rd inning produced 4 hits and 4 runs for the Newfoundland Selects who went on to win 6-5. Sooke had their shot in the 7th when Darcy Walushka led off with a triple but was stranded.

The 3:00 game at BVI was a spirited affair between the Rockies – Kitimat and Calgary that saw 2 ejections. Calgary used three pitchers to get through the game, but they ran out of gas giving up 5 in the 7th. Trevor Gicas led Kitimat with 3 hits and 2 RBI. It was the last game of the tournament for both teams as they each finished with two wins. The 3:30 game had a lot of provincial pride on the line as Ontario 1 – Napanee took on Ontario 2 Linwood. Linwood was able to exact some revenge for earlier losses by squeaking out a 5-4 win. Pitcher Dylan Cuningham came back from a scary injury where he took a pitch in the face in the first game, to return to the mound and produce a gutsy victory. Napanee took an early 4-0 lead after 2 innings, but Cunningham settled down and only gave up 2 more hits. Linwood stormed back with 3 in the 3rd chasing starter Joran Graham. They later got runs in the in the 5th and 6th to give reliever Luke Leahy the loss. Alec Ehrlich and Brent Freeman led the Chief’s offence with 2 hits apiece.

The 5:00 game at BVI saw 2 teams going in opposite directions. The second place Leduc 747’s beat the last place team from Quebec 8-1 in 5 innings .Courtney Nelson, Michael Hauser and Kyle Michalsky each had 2 hits for Leduc, while Devin Swyripa got the win. Two teams fighting for a top 4 spot met in the 5:30 game. The Chepstow Colts beat Newfoundland Selects 4-2 to stay in the top tier. The Selects got 8 hits off winner Mark Kelly but only managed to score 2 runs, while they gave up 4 runs on 4 hits. Their 5 errors was the big problem for the Selects and for the losing pitcher Andrew Murphy.

The first game of the night at BVI saw a match up between two playoff bound teams played in front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd. Starter Mark Bonin pitched 5 strong innings and combined with Travis Dauvin to out dual losing pitcher Dustin Keshane in a 5-3 Aspen Selects win over the Saskatchewan Chiefs. Steven Ryan had 2 triples, 2 RBI and scored a run to lead the Selects offence. In the second game the Sooke Smoke claimed the final playoff spot with a commanding 13-3 win over Mike Oakes Welding in 5 innings. They had 16 hits including 4 from Darcy Walushka
