BY PAT HEALEY
ST. JOHN’S, NL - The Hunter’s Ale House Fawcetts have been officially eliminated with a pair of losses here Thursday from the Labatt Canadian senior men’s fast pitch championship.
Charlottetown saw four costly errors come back to haunt them in a 10-3 loss to Nova Scotia’s Brookfield Elks in the morning before falling 8-1 in five innings to the Vancouver Grey Sox of British Columbia.
The two losses leaves the Fawcetts overall record at 2-6 (won-loss)
Vancouver used a six run first inning to improve to 6-1 (won-loss) while dispatching P.E.I.’s entry from the 12-team tournament. Only the top 8 teams make the playoffs round.
Chad Ghostkeeper (2-3, two RBI), Derek Mayson (2-3, two RBI), Sean Cameron (2-2, two RBI) and Rob Giesbrecht (2-3, RBI) led the Sox battery.
Glenn Ormsby (2-2, RBI double) and Cory McKeigan (1-2) were the Fawcett top hitters.
Korrey Garreau earned the win allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven.
Chris Craig was tagged with the loss throwing three innings allowing six runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Mitch Hardy came on in relief, going two innings allowing two runs on one hit while walking two.
P.E.I. committed two errors in the contest.
Charlottetown now joins the Brookfield Elks (N.S.), NL 2 Grumpy Stump and Saskatoon Poly Plus Sr. Diamondbacks as the teams eliminated from further play.
Thursday morning against the Elks, P.E.I. was error-plagued committing four miscues in three innings that accounted for three of the Elks’ six runs.

The Fawcetts got out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Chris Craig, but it was short lived as the Elks picked up their first win at the 12-team tournament.
Craig (1-3, RBI double), Kelly Wenstrom (1-3, run scored), Mark Arsenault (2-3, solo home run), Glenn Ormsby (1-3, RBI), Jason Blanchard (1-3) and Steven Larter (1-3) led the Fawcetts at the dish.
