85th Annual OASA Convention

The 85th Ontario Amateur Softball Association Annual General Meeting will be held at the Best Western Inn and Conference Centre in Cobourg on November 24, 2007.  The meeting begins at 1 p.m. with regular business interspersed with recognition of the best of our best.  Please help us celebrate our successes by attending.
 
We are pleased to present a number of free workshops on the morning of the 24th.  Following are a list of topics and presenters:
 
OASA workshops
 
1. On-Line Registrations – Mary Myers and Al Shumak (Web Master) 9 a.m & 10 a.m.
            Find out about how to register your teams and Players on-line. Help us reduce the paperwork and make your job as a coach easier. This workshop is a must.
 
2. Minor Program – Bruce Young, Mike Gibson and Gilles Butcher 9 a.m.
            Tournament formats, how best to rank teams for Provincial Championships, connecting with the Select program and strategies to help the OASA grow
 
3. Promoting Your Game – Bill Horne 9 a.m.
            You want to bid to host a tournament, but don’t know the ins and outs of how to attract a crowd to your park. Bill is an experienced and successful coach and promoter of OASA Championships. Come and learn strategies to promote your event.
 
4. Men’s Program – Gary Wren and George Ryder 10 a.m.
            Men’s issues include expanding the Master’s game, use of playersby Intermediate, Junior, Senior and Masters, how the OASA and ISC can work together and discussion of proposed amendments.
 
5. Coaching Certification – Dave Bourne and Rob McQuaid (Provincial Coaching Committee) 10 a.m. & 11 a.m.
            All coaches require National Certification. Do you have it? If not, this workshop will provide you with the How’s and Why’s to become a certified Coach. Come and bring a friend who wants to be involved in coaching. Everyone benefits from having a well trained and enthusiastic coach.
 
6. Trillium Foundation – Jackie Powell of the Trillium foundation 11 a.m.
            Does your organization need money? Find out what projects qualify for Trillium funding and how to go about applying for that support.
 
7. Sports Injury – Dr. Glenn Harris 11 a.m.
            Dr. Harris is the Team Ontario Doctor and has experience in both the prevention and treatment of sports related injuries. Learn about strategies to help your athletes stay healthy and functional for the season.
