The Niagara Falls Men's Fastball League held its annual banquet and awards night last night. Niagara Storm's Fury were recognized as both the League and Playoff champions for the second year in a row. The Fury's Scott Wagar who had one of the most dominating years in recent memory both on the mound and at the plate took home three individual awards. Voting was held amongst the League executive and Wagar was awarded Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher in the regular season and Most Valuable pitcher in the playoffs. Wagar was also awarded MVP for the GHFL in 2007. It recognized a season where Wagar was the Fury's best and most clutch hitter with numerous late inning clutch hits including a couple walk offs. Wagar was also awarded the GHFL MV pitcher where his record was an incredible 19-2. Wagar also threw a nine inning gem in the playoff finals as well as a two hitter in the clinching game. Mark Hall of Cool Hand Lukes was awarded playoff Most Valuable Player in the playoffs for a 7-14 effort including three homeruns in their semi final loss to Beam Me Up Scotties. The second annual Rusty Dekker memorial award was presented to Glen Crocker of Beam Me Up Scotties. Rusty was a friend to all and was respected by all who played. Rusty left us way too early and this award recognizes his hustle and great sportsmanship. The second annual Janet Greatrix Memorial award was presented to Mark Korten of Niagara Storm's Fury. Janet was and still is the heart and soul of the league who passed away in 2006. This award recognizes good sportsmanship and dedication to our league. Some selected league highlights were Cool Hand Lukes finalist in Huntsville A division and winner of Niagara Falls tournament B division, Beam Me Up Scotties behind the stellar pitching of Tom Berube GHFL playoff semi finalists and the Fury winning the GHFL 2007 playoff tournament. The league would like to thank all its volunteers, league executive and coaches and all its sponsors  for a great 2007. Plans are already underway for 2008 and we will update throughout the winter.
