KEATINGÂ’S   WIN  FIRST   TRAVEL   LEAGUE  W/E



            KeatingÂ’s Fitness Center from Wilkes-Barre Pa. went
undefeated to capture the 1stweekend championship of the Mid-Atlantic
Fastpitch Travel League.KeatingÂ’s finished the weekend with a
6-0 record, a .360 team batting average,and a 1.37 team earned
run average.



            KeatingÂ’s openedup their schedule with a 7-1 victory
over the Lancaster Merchants on Fridayevening. Bill Hillhouse
threw a 2 hitter while striking out 10 and walkingnone, in his
complete game victory. 



          JustinStock led the 10 hit attack for KeatingÂ’s with
a 3 for 5 performance. Hehad a double, 2 singles, 2 RBIÂ’s, a
stolen base, and scored 2 runs. DaveStokes was 2 for 3 with 2
singles and an RBI. Greg Garrity doubled and drove in2 runs.
Mike Keating, Neil Koser, Bret McHenry, and Mark Smith all singled.



            For Lancaster JasonMcClune had an RBI double and
Chad Sensenig singled.



            Next forKeatingÂ’s was the KMV-Rise. KeatingÂ’s defeated
the Rise 4-1.KeatingÂ’s scored 2 in the top of the 1st and the
Rise cameback with 1 in the bottom half of the inning. The scored
stayed that way untilthe 5th when winning pitcher Greg Garrity
hit a 2 run home run.Garrity led KeatingÂ’s both offensively and
defensively. In his completegame win Garrity allowed 3 hits while
striking out 12 batters and walking none.Offensively Garrity
was 2 for 3 with a home run, a single and 3 RBIÂ’s.



            For the Rise Andy Sabodoubled and scored a run. Chad
Ochle and Chad Walter had a single each.



            In their last game ofthe round robin portion of the
weekend KeatingÂ’s defeated South Lebanon 10-2. Greg Garrity had
a 2 for 4 outing. He homered,singled, had 2 RBIÂ’s, and scored
2 runs. Bret McHenry was 2 for 4 with adouble, single, and a
run scored. Mike Keating, Dave Martin and Kevin Smithwere all
2 for 4 with 2 singles each. Toby Ranck belted a solo home run.
NeilKoser and Justin Stock had a single each.



            For S. Lebanon Tracywas 2 for 2 with a double and
single. Keith Evans was 1 for 2 with a solo homerun.



            In the 1stgame in the playoff portion of the weekend
Landis Markets gave KeatingÂ’sall they could handle. KeatingÂ’s
barely escaped with a 5-4, 9 inningthriller. Landis scored 4
runs in the top of the 2nd to take a 4-1lead. KeatingÂ’s bounced
right back in their half of the inning with a 2spot to make the
score 4-3, Landis. The scored stayed that way untilKeatingsÂ’
Greg Garrity knotted things up with a lead off solo home run
inthe bottom of the 6th. In the bottom of the 9th inning,with
the international rule in effect, Dave Stokes advanced to 3rdbase
on a wild pitch. After a strike out for the 1st out, Toby Ranckdrove
in Stokes with a sacrifice fly to right with the winning run.




            Dave Martin led the Fitnessmen at the plate with
a 2 for 3 effort including 2 singles and an RBI. GregGarrity
had a solo homer and Toby Ranck tripled and had 2 RBIÂ’s. MarkSmith
had a double and an RBI. Neil Koser, Justin Stock and Dave Stokes
allsingled and scored a run each.



            Winning pitcher BillHillhouse gave up 3 earned runs,
had 10 strike outs, and didnÂ’t walk abatter in his 9 inning complete
game victory.



            For Landis, Ryan Moyerhad a 3 run homer. Troy Hertzler
had a double and Kory Kollar had an RBIsingle.



            Troy Hertzler pitcheda very good game in defeat.
In 9 innings he had 6 strike outs and allowed 1walk.



            In the semi-final gameKeatingÂ’s defeated Marysville
12-1. Steve Sell led the 14 hit attackgoing 3 for 3 with 3 singles.
Dave Stokes was 2 for 3 with a 3 run home run, asingle, 4 RBIÂ’s
and scored 2 runs. Dave Martin was 2 for 2 with a triple,single
and 3 RBIÂ’s. Greg Garrity and Justin Stock had 2 singles and
anRBI each. Bret McHenry doubled and scored a run while Frank
Keating Jr. andMike Keating had a single apiece.



            Winning pitcher Greg Garrity had 9 strike outs and
walked 1 in his completevictory.



            For Marysville JamieCassel, Damour and Gibney all
singled.



            The championship gamewas a rematch with KMV-Rise.
KeatingÂ’s defeated the Rise 3-1. Winningpitcher Bill Hillhouse
scattered 8 hits while pitching the complete game. Hestruck out
4 and walked 3 batters.



            KeatingÂ’s jumpedout to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of
the 2nd inning. Dave Stokes ledoff the inning with a solo homer.
Later in the inning Justin Stock got hit by apitch with the bases
loaded for the 2nd run. The Rise came rightback with a run of
their own when Bart Fenstermacher hit a sacrifice fly.KeatingÂ’s
pushed across an insurance run in the 5th on asacrifice fly by
Stokes.



            For KeatingÂ’sGreg Garrity and Mike Keating  were
2 for3 with 2 singles each. Dave Stokes went 1 for 2 with a home
run and 2RBIÂ’s. Dave Martin, Bret McHenry, Toby Ranck and Justin
Stock allsingled.



            For the Rise MattDayle was 2 for 2 with a double
and single. Andy Sabo was 2 for 3 with 2singles.



            Bill Hillhouse had agreat weekend on the mound for
KeatingÂ’s. Hillhouse had a 3-0 record,pitched 23 innings, gave
up 5 earned runs, had 24 strike outs, gave up 3 walksand had
a 1.52 ERA.Greg Garrity was 2-0. He pitched 12 innings, gave
up 2 earnedruns, struck out 21, walked 1 and had a 1.17 ERA.
Dave Stokes was 1-0 with a1.17 ERA.



            Offensive Greg Garrityled KeatingÂ’s. He was 10 for
19, (.526), 3 home runs, a double, 6singles, 9 RBIÂ’s, scored
7 runs, had a .682 OBP, and a 1.053 SLG; DaveMartin was 8 for
16 (.500), triple, 7 singles, 2 stolen bases, .632 OBP, ..625SLG;
Dave Stokes was 6 for 12 (.500), .571 OBP, 1.00 SLG; Neil Koser
batted..429; Justin Stock (.400), triple, 7 singles, 2 stolen
bases, 2 HBP, ..522 OBP,..500 SLG; Mike Keating batted .375,
.563 OBP; Bret McHenry (.333), 2 doubles, 3singles; Mark Smith
(.333); Toby Ranck (.300), home run, triple, single, ..800SLG.



            KeatingÂ’s willbe competing in the Baumann Memorial
Tournament this weekend in Erie Pa. Their first game is at 9:00AM
on Saturday.
