Death of British Columbia Softball great Jim McMillian

Al some sad new from the west Coast.

 Softball Canada and Softball BC Hall of famer Jim McMillan died this past week from a massive heart attack. Jim McMillan's career spand the 60s and 70s. He played for Vancouver Blue boys when they won back to back Canadian Championships in 1965 and 1966. Jim was a line-drive hitter who was one of the best in the west during the 60s and 70s. He played in two ISF World Championships (1966 Mexico and 1976 New Zealand). Victoria Bates Construction picked him up in their quest for a Canadian Championship in 1965. He joined the team again after they won the Canadian Championship and they represented Canada at the 1976 ISF world Championship where they shared gold medal with New Zealand and the USA when the tournament was called due to rain. Jim continued playing and coaching well into the 1980s. He was inducted into the Softball BC Hall of Fame in 1990 and was inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame in 1992. Jim was a retired Vancouver Firefighter.

A memorial service is being held at Saturday July 12 at the 10th Ave Alliance Church #11 West 10th Ave, Vancouver, BC
