Dave Birnie retiring from Fastball

Today Dave Birnie wrote his last fastball news story, posted earlier today on our web site, the story reads:

Millgrove Early Bird Tournament - Schedule for this weekend

As is Dave's style, Dave wrote a great report on the upcoming Millgrove tournament, complete with team list and schedule for the weekend.

I thought it odd that Dave was signing off, quietly announcing his retirement so I asked him why he was retiring, after all, the season is just starting and how are we going to get our news without him?
Dave wrote back and gave me the low down on his reasons. I will not repeat them here, but I do agree that he is doing the right thing and he is doing it at the right time. In fact, I cannot even say, "I wish he was not retiring", now that I know his reasons. I still however will miss his reports, he set the gold standard on how to announce a tournament. He will be missed.

Thanks for all the hard work Dave, you will be missed by many fastball players and fans.
