Brandt’s Weekend Recap



Brandt’s softball team of Springfield IL took part
in the Dick Tracy this past weekend in Rockford coming
out with a 4-1 record against some excellent
competition in this early season event. Brandt’s won
their pool on Saturday with a 3-0 mark, but fell to
eventual champion Dolan and Murphy in the semifinals.


Saturday was a tough day for pitchers, as the wind
was howling out on Diamond 1. It led to a couple of
long homeruns and the 300 foot fences allowed a lot of
‘texas league’ singles.

After 3 tough wins on Saturday, Brandt’s drew the #1
seed in the single elimination tourney on Sunday and a
9 AM start. After a good win over a young Blackhawk
team, Brandt’s had their bats silenced by Bob Ginger
as they couldn’t get a key hit with men on base. Dolan
jumped on Brandt’s for 3 in the first and they could
never recover.
