2008 Softball Season Begins!
The Upcoming Season

 

Senior and Intermediate Elimination
This prestigious tournament will be held at Legion Fields in Cobourg on August 1 to 3. The host contact is Scott Tuttle who can be reached at 905 -373-4181.The winner will be declared the Intermediate 'A' Provincial Champion. Travel money awarded at this tournament will be based on the number of teams participating. Each team will be guaranteed 3 games and the tournament will have a divisional format. The top 4 teams will not be eligible to participate in the Provincial Intermediate B/C tournament. The Senior teams will play a divisional round robin which will seed them into a single knockout play-off round.

 

Intermediate Provincial B/C Championships
This tournament will be held in Waterloo at Hillside Park on August 29 to 31. The Host contact is Brad Thomson who can be reached at 519-954-1269. Travel money will be awarded to the Champions in both the B and C division. The tournament will be a guaranteed 3 game event. The format will be double knock out and teams that lose their first two games will go into a single elimination play off round and play for the Provincial C Championship. Teams with 1 loss or better in their first two games will remain in the double knockout format and play for the Intermediate B Championship.

 

Junior Men's EliminationThe tournament will be held in Toanche on July 4 to 6. The host contacts are Roy and Christine Patenaude who can be reached at 705-549-2485. The tournament winner will be declared the Junior A Provincial Champion. This tournament will be a double knockout event. Up to 4 teams will advance to represent Ontario at the Junior Men's Canadian Championships in Owen Sound August 3 to 10. Teams that qualify or participate in the Junior Men's Canadians will not be eligible to play in the Provincial Junior B/C Championships.

 

Junior Men's Provincial B/C ChampionshipsThis tournament will be held in Smith Falls on August 22 to 24. Tournament host contact is Terry Shea who can be reached at 613 -283-5349. The tournament will be a guaranteed 3 game event. The format will be double knock out and teams that lose their first two games will go into a single elimination play off round and play for the Provincial C Championship. Teams with 1 loss or better in their first two games will remain in the double knockout format and play for the Junior B Championship.
MastersThe annual Jack Cook Classic will be held at Kerr Park in Niagara Falls on July 18 to 20, 2008. The host contact is Rob Greatrix who can be reached at 905-324-6341. There will be two categories this year - Masters A and a new Masters B category. The new category was created for teams of a less competitive nature. The criteria and rules for Masters B can be found under Men's News on the OASA website. The tournament is a guaranteed 3 game divisional format for each category.
The Intermediate Elimination Championship
