Vancouver Grey Sox play the New Zealand & Canada Mens Under 19 National Teams

The Vancouver Grey Sox played host to Canada's Under 19 Mens National Team Saturday afternoon at South Memorial Park in Vancouver.  The Grey Sox prevailed in both contests by scores of 7 - 0 and 15 - 5.  The teams were blessed with warm summer weather conditions.  Game details are listed below.  The same two teams meet again on Sunday June 15th at South Memorial Park for a single game starting at 11:00 am PDT.

LP - Dustin Keshane, 3IP, 5R, 3BB, 5H with relief from Jordan Graham (4), 1IP, 2R, 3BB, 1H
Sean Cameron led the Grey Sox offense with a 2 for 2 performance at the plate.
 
Game 2 - played Saturday June 14th at 5:00 pm PDT
Vancouver Grey Sox 15 - Team Canada Under 19 National Team 5
WP - Mike Piechnik, 3IP, 1R, 2H, 6Ks with relief from Scott Leiph (4) 2IP, 4R, 0ER, 3H, 4Ks
LP - Devon McCullough 0IP, 8R, 4ER, 1BB, 5H with relief from Travis Dauvin (1) 4IP, 7R, 3ER, 8H, 1K
Scott Newitt was 4 for 4 at the plate for the Grey Sox with 2RBIs, and Doug Cain was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.  The Grey Sox opened an early lead and never looked back in this contest, with both teams commiting untimely defensive miscues which directly resulted in opposition runs.

The Vancouver Grey Sox and the New Zealand Under 19 Mens National Team completed a doubleheader at Moody Park this evening in comfortable mid June west coast weather conditions and a decent gathering of spectators.  The Grey Sox downed the Kiwis by scores of 4-1 and 8-1.  Results from the games are listed below.   Next action for the Grey Sox is Saturday June 14th when they will play the Canada Under 19 Mens National Team a doubleheader starting at 3:00 pm PDT at South Memorial Park in Vancouver.  The same two teams also have scheduled a single game commencing at 11:00 am on Sunday June 15th again at South Memorial Park.

The Vancouver Grey Sox kick off a 5 game weekend series vs the New Zealand and Canada Under 19 Mens National teams tonite (Friday June 13).  The Grey Sox will make the short commute to New Westminster on Friday evening and face the New Zealanders  in a doubleheader starting at 6:45 p.m. at Moody Park (8th Avenue and 8th street).  The Grey Sox will welcome the return of Pitcher Nick Underhill who will be back in the line up after missing recent action due to work commitments.

On Saturday June 14th the Grey Sox will play Team Canada twice at South Memorial Park (41st Avenue East between Knight and Fraser Streets) in Vancouver.  Game times are 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. At the request of Team Canada the Sunday June 15th schedule has been changed to a single game at 11:00 a.m. rather than a doubleheader. Following that game the South Hill Sports Association and the Grey Sox will host an on-field session with young ballplayers from the Cloverdale Minor Softball Association, followed by a barbeque.

There will not be any admission charges and fans are invited to attend and check out some of Canada's and New Zealand's best young players as they prepare for the ISF Junior Mens World Championship slated to commence next week in Whitehorse, Yukon.
