CT @ Townline Shootout

June 16, 2008

Green Bay, WI

June 13-15
Green Bay, WI USA

The Circle Tap fastpitch team had a very successful weekend going 4-1(10-2
overall) in capturing their 2nd straight Townline Shootout title. The
field at Memorial Park in Howard has seen loads of fastpitch over the
years including many state tournaments in the past. The weather turned
out great and the crowds were good. This weekend we were without Chris
Miljavac, Glenn Ormsby, Jamie Knudson, and Bill Miller.

Game 1
7:45 Friday

#7Circle Tap 4 Stoneyard(Appleton, WI) 1
SY 1 5 1
CT 4 5 1
The Tappers drew first blood in the bottom of the 1st as we drew 3 walks
and then a sac fly by Tim Jorgensen knocked in a run, but we left the
bases loaded. The Stoneyard evened the score in the 3rd as Kyle Leonhardt
tripled and scored on a James Darby base hit. CT came back with a pair in
the 4th as Bryan Hansen led off with a home run. Kevin Reichardt drew a
walk advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch and
scored on an error. CT made it a 4-1 game in the 6th as Reichardt led off
with a triple and scored on a Kyle Magnusson base hit. We stranded 11
runners including leaving the bases loaded 3 times.

Game 2
12:30 Saturday

#7Circle Tap 6 #22The Bar of Green Bay 0
CT 6 10 0
TB 0 0 0
We started the day a little shorter than we expected as Don Garvey had a
previous engagement. The Tappers jumped on top in the 1st as Kyle
Magnusson hit a double followed by a Chris DeLarwelle walk and a two out,
two run RBI single by Kyle VanAbel made it 2-0. CT added one in the 3rd
on a two out solo blast by VanAbel. CT tacked on 3 more in the 6th as
Bryan Hansen walked and scored on a base hit by Reichardt, Magnusson
reached on a fielder's choice and then DeLarwelle crushed a two run shot
for the 6-0 advantage. Juan Potolicchio tossed a complete game no-hitter.
He allowed a lead off walk in the first and then after a sac bunt out, he
recorded the next 20 in a row.

Game 3
4 PM Saturday

#7Circle Tap 3 #1The Farm 4 8innings
FT 4 5 2
CT 3 6 1
We started this one with an even more unorthodox starting lineup as Kelly
Wenstrom was having back issues. He found a local chiropractor on our
game off and didn't make the start so we had both pitchers doing some
swinging.
Collin McKenzie got the nod for CT and Rob Schweyer for the Farm. This
was the first meeting of the year between these two very familiar foes.
This was a scoreless game until the top of the 4th. McKenzie came out of
the game, and was replaced by Paul Algar, making his first appearance on
the hill as a Tapper. He set down the first two hitters before Pat
Humphreys hit a solo shot for a 1-0 Farm lead. The Farm added another in
the 5th as Kevin Schellenberg drew a walk moved to 2nd on a fielder's
choice, got to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Donny Hale double.
The Farm added another in the 7th on a solo shot by Zenon Winters.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the 7th CT came alive. Chris DeLarwelle led
off with a double and scored on a Tim Jorgensen base hit. Kyle VanAbel
followed with a two run blast to even the score. Tom Crouch then reached
on an error by Schweyer struck out the next three hitters to force extra
innings. In the 8th and the international tie breaker rule in affect The
Farm scored the winning run as a ground out and a pop out was then
followed by a wild pitch scoring the run.

The 2-1 record earned us a 2 seed and a spot in the semifinal

Game 4
SemiFinal Sunday Noon

#7Circle Tap 3 #12Townline 2
TL 2 3 1 2
CT 3 6 2 7
Another familiar opponent for the Tappers. CT grabbed an early lead in
the bottom of the first as Kevin Reichardt drew a lead off walk, Chris
DeLarwelle picked up an RBI single and later Tom Crouch would pick up a
two out base hit driving in two more for a 3-0 lead. The score would
remain that way until the top of the 7th when Shawn Jamieson and John
Hudson would both reach on errors and would eventually score on a ground
out and an RBI base hit by Nick Lamphere. So with two out and a pinch
runner on 1st a wild pitch was thrown but the ball bounced near Bryan
Hansen, the CT catcher, and he was able to easily throw out the runner
trying to advance to 2nd.

Game 5
Finals Sunday 2PM

#7Circle Tap 9 #1The Farm 3
CT 9 9 1
TF 3 5 0
A rematch of last year's Shootout final. CT struck first in the top of
the 1st as Kevin Reichardt smashed a double down the left field line, Kyle
Magnusson drew a walk, Reichardt would score on a wild pitch and then
Chris DeLarwelle knocked an RBI double. CT tacked on 3 more in the 3rd as
Magnusson singled, DeLarwelle walked and then VanAbel smashed a 3 run shot
for a 5-0 lead. The Farmers came back with a pair of their own in the
bottom half as Zenon Winters drew a one out walk, Donny Hale was hit by a
pitch, Collin Abbott picked up a 2RBI single. CT pitcher Juan Potolicchio
a little shaken at this point as the inning before he took a crushed line
drive back up the middle off the groin, he kept his head and found the
ball and made an excellent throw to 1st to get the hitter before needed a
few minutes to recover. CT would strike back with a pair in the 5th as
Chris DeLarwelle and Don Garvey would hit back to back solo shots for a
7-2 lead. The Farm got one back in the bottom half as Donny Hale singled
and scored on an error to make it 7-3. CT added two more in the 7th as
Magnusson led off with a base hit and then DeLarwelle smacked his 2nd home
run of the game for a 9-3 advantage.
