Rivershark Twins Dominate Jarvis Tournament
Monday, June 23, 2008
The Kitchener Rivershark Twins rebounded from their onlyloss of the season last weekend in Midlandby running the table in methodical fashion this weekend in Jarvis. The Twinsmarched through 5 straight games without surrendering a run while banging out35 of their own en route to their second tournament victory in 3 outings.

The Rivershark Twins ran their season record to 16 and 1 andrecorded their 10th shut out of the early campaign. Their sights arenow set on a much bigger pond this week when they open the Monkton WorldFastball Invitational against the Saskatoon Aspen Interior Black Sox, game timewill be Thursday at 7:30 pm.

The Jarvis Tournament saw the arrival of catcher PatrickShannon behind the plate, but it was his performance at the plate that reallystood out. Shannon pounded out 4 home runs, two in one game Saturday against the Jarvis Gamblers and one of those a grandslam that gave him 6 RBI’s for the game. He followed Ryan Wolfe’sgame winning grand slam in the final with a 3 run shot of his own to ice the championship.

Kitchener used 4pitchers over the weekend to run off a scoreless visitors attack, with Frank Coxwinning two games including the final, while  Blair Ezekiel, Don Scott andTodd Martin were equal to the task in there own outstanding performances.

The Rivershark Twins will get a major league test thisweekend in Monkton, and will compete in Pool ‘A’ with Saskatoon, SoCal Bombersand St.Thomas Evergreen Centennials. Pool ‘B’ is every bit as toughwith The Farm, Broken Bow Gremlins, Circle Tap and Jarvis Gamblers.
