The Vancouver Grey Sox round robin record at the Rose Cup Tournament being held in Portland, Oregon this weekend currently sits at 1-1.  Results from our games played thus far are enclosed below.  Further updates will be provided later this evening, once the round robin is completed and final seedings for the playoffs have been determined..

Game 1 - Sat. June 21st - played at 8:30 am PDT
Vancouver Grey Sox 4 - Sacramento, CA River City Rockers 3
WP - Mike Piechnik (6) 2IP, 2H, 0R, 5Ks in relief of Jeff Wilson, 5IP, 4H, 3R, 7Ks
LP - Bryan Newton, 7IP, 4R, 7H, 7ks
The Grey Sox rallied from a 3 - 0 deficit in this game, with Rob Geisbrecht delivering a 1 out, 2 RBI double in the 7th to score the tieing and winning runs.
 
Game 2 - Sat. June 21st - played at 10:30 am PDT
Palm Springs, CA So Cal Bombers 5 - Vancouver Grey Sox 2
WP - Luca Mata, 7IP, 4H, 2R, 10Ks
LP - Nick Underhill, 6IP, 8H, 5R, 8Ks
Darrell Sandback led the So Cal offense with a 3 for 4 performance with 2RBIs.

Portland, OR
 
The Vancouver Grey Sox completed round robin play with a record of 2 - 1 at the Rose Cup Tournament being held in Portland, Oregon.  Results from all Grey Sox games played thus far are enclosed below. 
 
The Grey Sox now advance to Sunday's single elimination playoff round and will be matched up with the Horse Lake, AB Thunder with the winner of that game advancing to play the Palm Springs, CA So Cal Bombers who received a bye to the semi finals by virtue of their first place finish in Pool B.  The host Portland Demarini team will be matched up with Bakersfield, CA Lumberkings and the winner will advance to the other semi final and will be pitted against Broken Bow Gremlins who also received a bye to the semi by virtue of their first place finish in Pool A. 
 
Further updates will be provided on Sunday evening when the tournament is completed.

Game 3 Round Robin - Sat. June 21st - played at 3:30 pm PDT

The Vancouver Grey Sox were eliminated from further action this morning at the Rose Cup Tournament being held in Portland, Oregon.  Horse Lake, AB Thunder beat the Grey Sox 2 - 1.  Game details are as follows:
 
Horse Lake, AB Thunder 2 - Vancouver Grey Sox 1
WP - Darren Zack (6) 2IP, 1H, 2Ks in relief of Sean Whitten, 5IP, 1H, 2Ks
LP - Nick Underhill, 7IP, 2R, 3H, 6Ks
Evan Potskin delivered a 2 run homerun in the top of the sixth to provide the Thunder with the margin of victory.
 
Other playoff results were the host Portland DeMarini team defeating the Bakersfield, CA Lumberkings 6 - 3 to advance to the semi final vs. Broken Bow.  Bow then knocked the Portland side out of the event with a 5 inning victory.  Horse Lake by virtue of their win over the Grey Sox faced Palm Springs, CA So Cal Bombers, with So Cal winning 3 - 0.  That set up a very good final matchup between So Cal and Broken Bow.  Broken Bow won the tight contest with a run in the seventh to prevail 1 - 0, and are to be congratulated for their fine play in capturing the event.  Winning pitcher was Andrew Kirkpatrick, losing pitcher was Lucas Mata.
 
After a 2 - 2 record at the Rose Cup the Grey Sox seasonal record now stands at 22 - 5..  Next action is June 28 and 29 when we will be hosting Portland, Oregon DeMarini for a 4 game super series in Vancouver.  Game times at South Memorial Park are 6:30 & 8:30 pm Saturday and 11:00 am & 1:00 pm Sunday.
