CT in Monkton

Monkton, ON

June 26-29
Monkton, ON

The Circle Tap fastpitch ventured to Monkton, ON for the World Fastball
Invitational over the weekend. It was an extremely disappointing weekend
as we went 1-3(11-5 overall) in facing some of the world's best. Hats off
to Brian Bailee for running an excellent tournament. The grounds crew
deserves a big pat on the back as the weather conditons all weekend were
less than ideal. Strong downpours at times and at others a persistent
light rain. The field soaked in a tremendous amount of water, yet after a
1/2 hour to hour waits it was again playable.
CT was without Kyle VanAbel and Bill Miller. Chris Miljavac missed
Thursday and Don Garvey missed Saturday and Sunday.
Here is the action:

The Tappers started off the weekend on a high note with a victory against
a team we've never played before which was nice. This game was scoreless
in the 3rd when the rains came and we had a little over an hour delay.
After that subsided, CT struck in the 4th on a long bomb to left field by
Glenn Ormsby for a 1-0 lead. The Gamblers evened it up in the top of the
5th as Ryan Thompson doubled followed by walks issued to Mike Taylor and
Matt Lyon before Bill Simmons had a sac fly to drive in a run. CT took
back the lead in the 6th as Kevin Reichardt led off with a double,
followed by an RBI single by Kyle Magnusson, followed by an RBI single by
Chris DeLarwelle, followed by an RBI double by Don Garvey.

This one was disappointing on all levels and was over early. Nathan
Nukunuku smacked a home run to lead off the bottom of the first, then 4
walks and a double later it was 3-0. In the 2nd Bow scored 3 more as
Nathan Craige walked followed by a Nukunuku double and a Rhys Casely
triple. Bow tacked on two more in the 3rd for the final scoring. Chris
DeLarwelle had the only CT hit.

Another ridiculously ugly one. The Farm's Donny Hale hit a two run shot
in the 1st followed by a triple by Collin Abbot and a two run shot by Rob
Gray. Hale hit a 3 run shot in the 2nd as well.

CT 4 8 1

The Tappers took control of this game and finally looked like the team I
know for the first time all weekend, however we let this one slip away.
CT grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the 3rd as Bryan Hansen led off with a
double followed by an RBI base hit by Chris Miljavac and an RBI single by
Chris DeLarwelle. In the top of the 4th Tim Jorgensen and Kelly Wenstrom
drilled solo shots to start off the inning. Aspen made it a 4-1 game in
the bottom of the 4th as Dean Holoien singled and scored on a two out
triple by Pat McIntosh. Three more Aspen scores in the bottom of the 5th
as Ethier singled, Keith McIntosh singled, Greg Crawford reached on a
fielders choice for the 2nd out and then a hard hit ball created an error
and a run socred, followed by a walk and a 2RBI single by Chad Hansen. In
the bottom of the 7th Dale Levy hit a two out shot to left to end the
