Sunday Results --- Pete Schwab Memorial Fastpitch Tournament (Frankenmuth, MI)

The final day of the 7th annual Pete Schwab Memorial men's fastpitch
tournament was filled with excitement, close games, and good weather.
In the A final, the Alvinston Indians (Alvinston, Ontario) held of the
Lightning (Battle Creek, Michigan), 6-5, in a thrilling game for the
championship. Alvinston advanced by defeating the Ashland Mets
(Ashland, OH) in one semi-final while the Lightning held off the
defending champions, Priority Mortgage (Grand Rapids, MI), in the
other semi-final. Most valuable pitcher was Doug Charlton from the
Indians, while Chad Knox from the Lightning was the most valuable
hitter.
In the B final, Jeff Hoover from Tiffany's (Frankenmuth, MI) threw a
1-hitter to help defeat Homer Fastpitch (Homer, Michigan) 2-0.
Meanwhile, in the C final, BCCI (St. Helen, Michigan) defeated the
host team, Up to Date Painting (Millington, Michigan).
I would like to extend many thanks to mother nature (who helped us
avoid the 90% chance of strong storms on Saturday), the fans, players,
and umpires (led by UICs Dave Selden and Jeff Yorke) for a great
weekend. Stay tuned over the winter for exciting additions to next
year's event.
