The Circle Tap Fastpitch team went a disappointing 2-2(13-7) in the 8th
Annual Boys of Summer tournament this past weekend. There were some ups
and downs again this week with the bats and finished the weekend a bit
banged up. The Tappers were without Kyle VanAbel and Kevin Reichardt this
weekend and did not have Juan Potolicchio as he was with the Argentina
National team.

The Tappers opened the tournament with Dolan&Murphy again this year trying
to rebound from opening round losses each of the last two years at this
tournament to the team from Aurora. Dolan struck first in the top of the
4th as Camden Decker singled followed by an Adam Perkins single and a
Jared Guedscha RBI single then pulled off a double steal scoring another
run for a 2-0 lead. Aurora pitcher Doug Gilles threw a no no through 4
innings before the CT bats came around. Tim Jorgensen led off the bottom
of the 5th with a solo shot. With two out Kyle Magnusson drew a walk,
Chris Miljavac singled followed by a 3 run shot by Chris DeLarwelle to
give CT a 4-2 advantage. In the bottom of the 6th Glenn Ormsby walked,
Tom Crouch walked and then Jorgensen hit a 3 run shot for the final
margin.

Patsy's took control early in this one in the first as Michael Tanner was
hit by a pitch, moved to 2nd on a wild pitch moved to 3rd on another, Brad
Rona walked, stole 2nd and Frank DeGroat hit a 3 run shot, Steven Ratu had
an RBI single also in the first for a 4-0 advantage. CT answered in the
bottom half as Magnusson walked moved to 2nd on a fielders choice, Don
Garvey singled and Glenn Ormsby picked up a 2RBI base hit. CT pitcher
Paul Algar was lifted after an inning and a third as he strained his
achillies. Jeff Hook smashed a solo shot for Patsy's in the 2nd. and Lou
Joglar picked up an RBI single in the 3rd for a 6-2 lead. CT came back
with a run in the bottom half of the 4th on a solo shot by Tom Crouch.
Frank DeGroat hit his 2nd homer of the game in the fifth for Patsy's.

This ball game was great for the fans and kept the CT fans on the edge of
their seats. The Tappers got on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd
as Tom Crouch doubled and scored with two outs on a error. The California
team took over in the 3rd as Shaun Mandolesi drew a two out walk, Marcus
Tan singled Pat Fuentes followed with a two run triple and Brian Teeters
followed with a 2 run shot for a 4-1 lead. CT made it a 4-2 game in the
4th when Matt Bramwell singled and scored on a Chris Miljavac base hit.
The Tappers added another in the 5th as Don Garvey drew a lead off walk,
was sacrificed to 2nd and scored on a Tim Jorgensen base hit. The
Lumberkings made it a 5-3 score on an RBI single by Jeff Kawaguchi in the
top of the 6th. CT battled back with a run in the bottom half as Kyle
Magnusson doubled, moved to 3rd on a fielders choice and scored on a sac
fly by Chris DeLarwelle. With the game 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th Glenn
Ormsby lauched a big bomb to left field to even the score and then with
one out Jorgensen smashed a solo shot to end the ballgame.

The Circle Tap bats were silenced again this week by a very familiar foe
in Andrew Kirkpatrick. Chris Miljavac picked up the only CT hit. Nathan
Nukunuku lead off the bottom of the first with a solo shot. In the third
Bob Rostenhausler hit a solo shot followed by a Nukunuku triple and he
scored on a Rhys Casely base hit. It remained 3-0 until the 5th when
Nukunuku hit another solo shot, Casely singled, Jarrad Martin singled and
Kerry Shaw hit a home run to end the game.

CT will next head to Aurora, IL for the AFSA Classic. It sees action on
Saturday at 9AM vs Team Chicago and will play Quad City and Dolan & Murphy
at 1 and 3.
