Congratulations to the GHFL's North York Knights, who won the 4th Annual MSFL Tournament over the MSFL's Central Fairbank Lumberjacks by a score of 3-0 on Sunday.
A well fought match by both squads but in the end the Knights were able to get some hits and the Lumberjacks made some costly errors to seal their fate. Tracey Woolridge threw a one-hitter and fanned 10 for the win.
By all accounts a successful tournament with some very competitive games all weekend. Lots of fans, friends, and families came out to partake in the festivities and we want to thank everyone who came out to watch, to play, and to show their support for fastball.
Another big thank you goes out to the Blue Crew who worked hard all weekend, and despite some uncooperative weather, managed to get all the games in.
A big thank-you to all the teams who made the trip (both far and near) to our tournament - you are a huge reason the tourney was such success and we thank you for that. Keep us on the tournament radar for next year!
Thanks to all the volunteers who made the time in their scehdules this weekend to work the Beer and Food Tents - you ladies and gents are appreciated! Also, a big thank you for the teams that supported the beer tent all weekend!
The final figures have yet to be calculated but it looks like it was also successful weekend for the Cure For Breast Cancer Foundation, to whom all the proceeds from the 50/50 draws (and other sales) went to..
And a big thank you to all the MSFL teams and players who continue to make the MSFL one of the few remaining centres of men's fastpitch in the GTA. All MSFL teams represented themselves and the league in an exemplary fashion and deserve a pat on the back.
Finally, a well-deserved thank you and congratulations is reserved for MSFL President Peter Sands, who has tirelessly devoted his time not only organizing and preparing this one tournament, but also the MSFL as a whole. His efforts should not go unnoticed.
