Keating's 4th of July Classic Results

    Keating's Fitness Center from Wilkes-Barre, Pa. finished tied for 2nd place in the rain shortened 4th of July Classic in Allentown, Pa. Keating's finished the tournament with a 4-1-1 record.
 
    In their opening game Keating's defeated Ormrod Fastpitch 5-1 behind the 3 hit pitching of Dave Stokes. Stokes struck out 11 and did not allow a walk. Justin Stock went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a run scored. In their 2nd game the New York Knights beat Keating's 3-0. Darren Rea threw the shutout for the Knights striking out 6 and walking 2.
 
    In the losers bracket Keating's drew the Ormrod club again this time beating them 12-0. Troy Hertzler picked up the win on the mound throwing a 3 hitter while striking out 11 and walking none. Offensively Greg Garrity was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI's. Keating's next defeated Hoffman Rise 10-1. Greg Garrity got the win on the hill and Kevin Smith was 2 for 3 with a 2 run homer and a single.
 
    The Fitnessmen defeated Ormrod again 4-2. Troy Hertzler got the win in relief while Ryan Frank went 2 for 2 with an RBI triple and a double. In the loser bracket final game Keating's and the N.Y. Knights battled to a 6-6 score when the rain came and the tournament was cancelled in the 2nd inning.
 
    Troy Hertzler was 2-0 on the mound pitching 8 innings, nor allowing a run, gave up 3 hits, struck out 15 and walked 3. Dave Stokes was 1-0. He pitched 11.2 innings, had a 2.50 ERA, allowed 7 hits, struck out 15 and walked 3.
 
    Keating's hit for a ..363 team batting average and .710 slugging average.
 
    Offensively for Keating's Justin Stock had a huge weekend. He was 8 for 11, .727 avg, 1 triple, 7 singles, 6 runs, .692 OBP, and .909 SLG.
    Kevin Smith was 7 for 14, .500 avg, .571 OBP, .714 SLG.
    Mike Gehman and Scooter Lammey both hit .500
    Ryan Frank had a ..417 avg, triple, double, 3 singles, .625 OBP, .667 SLG.
    Greg Garrity hit for a .357 avg, 4 home runs, single, 12 RBI's, 1.214 SLG.
    Scot Emerich had a ..333 avg, home run, double, 1.000 SLG.
    Brent Moyer had a ..333 avg, .500 OBP, .833 SLG.
    Kelly dampeer hit for a .308 avg, triple, double, 2 singles, 6 runs, .500 OBP, .538 SLG.
 
    Keating's overall season record is now 15-4-2. Their next action will be July 19 in the Bob Walsh Memorial Tournament in Allentown, Pa.
