Steelers upset the Hounds;North Stars blast the Native Sons
On Monday night in Azilda pitchers for the Garson Hounds Gary Lamothe and the Whitefish Steelers Al Guenette put on a pitching clinic and were helped by their defense .The Steelers edged the Hounds 5-4 and moved within one point of the Athletics who are in fourth position.Corey Farmer hit 2 for 3 and still holds on to first place in top hitter category.
In the nightcap , Randy Dennis collected his 8 mound victory of the season to help the Dog House North Stars move up 3 points in first place and closer to clinching their second strait and third in four years President's Cup.One win in their last two games will clinch first place for them.
There are six regular season games` remaining. There will be a doubleheader in Whitefish on Wednesday night then two doubleheaders of rain outs Thursday in Garson at Lorn Brady Park followed by the final two games on July 28th in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex.The playoffs get underway on August the 6th in Whitefish.
The Northerns goes to Garson
After two years in Azilda , the Northern Ontario Fastball Championship will be held in Garson for 2008 at the Lorn Brady Memorial Park.This year the format will be a double bracket knockout. Once`again a reminder that the deadline for entry is Tuesday August the 5th.
