Cobourg Legion Softball are playing host to the Senior and Intermediate Eliminations on Aug 1/2/3 at Legion Fields. The tournament has 2 local teams participating, those teams are the Cobourg Force and the Colborne Merchants. Also, we have 2 of the top 10 teams in the ISC II in the Elmira Cubs and Team Easton who recently won the Gil Read Memorial tournament in Ottawa as well teams that will be gunning to win the Intermediate tournament are the Jarvis Rock (ranked 28th in 06 in ISC II) and the Alviston Indians (ranked 18th in 06), Stouffville Mennos, Wellington County Canucks.
The Senior teams vying for the Provicial title will be the St. Thomas Centennials who were the Canadian Senior Men’s Champions in 2005, 2006 and finished 6th in 2007 in Newfoundland and currently sit second in the ISC Travel League of Eastern Canada.
Jarvis Gamblers who are the competition for St. Thomas for the Provincial Championship are currently 3rd in the ISC Travel league and finished 6th in the Senior Men’s National Championship in 2007.
It looks to be a great weekend of softball, come out and enjoy our event and any young ball player wearing their shirt from their respective association get in free this weekend.
