TWO FALL TOURNAMENTS in the north

September 4, 2008

Sudbury, ON

                                         TWO  YEAR END TOURNAMENTS

Before the leaves start changing their colors and the frigid nights of the Fall season arrive keep in mind that there are two season ending fastball tournaments for men coming up in a little less than 15 days . You still have a chance to enter your team before its two late .The only small draw back is that both tournaments are on the same weekend:

1st there is the Wikewemmikong Fall Fair Fastball tournament  on Manitoulin Island -small reminder that the entree fee is $375 per team with three games guaranteed.Cash prizes for the A & B championship will be based on the number of teams .A maximum of twelve teams will be accepted. You can also partake in other Fair activities with the family while you're there. Contact Mark Peltier at 1-705-859-1708 or by email wikyreds_11@hotmail.com for further details.

2nd there is the first annual Parry Island Men's Fastball Championship ..They are looking for 12 teams but no matter the number of teams these following prize money are guaranteed : "A" Division  1st = $2 000 ; finalists = $500 ;"B" Division 1st $1 000 ; finalists $500.Please get a hold of Natassja at the following numbers : 1-705-774-9521 or 1-705-746-0517 or her cell at 1-705-346-0085 .You can also email Natassja at natassja0410@hotmail.com for further information .

Both of these tournaments will go from September 19th to the 21st . Both tournaments will be officiated  by the registered/carded  blue umpires of Greater Sudbury [B.U.G.S.]
Don't forget the 3rd annual All-Star Classic Extravaganza on Saturday September the 13th in Elliot Lake pitting the North Shore All-Stars and the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League All-Stars. The skills competition (4 events) will get underway at 3 PM followed by the nine inning game at 5 PM.
A third Fall tournament will be added in September 2009 with a tentative date of September the 4th to the 6th or 11th to the 13th . This tournament would pit the champions from the Manitoulin Fastball League ,the North Shore Fastball League , the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League and a host team .. Should North Bay Senior Men's League enter into the picture then the host position would be dropped. The tournament would change league area each year with the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League hosting the inaugural one in 2009.
For the All-Star Classic fourth annual in 2009 , should the Manitoulin Association come aboard then they could be hosting it before it returns to Sudbury for 2010. The dare for the All-Star game and the 4 team tournament could be interchange and even here we may invite North Bay into the All-Star picture. Fastball may be leaving the Olympics (and that's really a shame) but we will keep it  alive in Northern Ontario.
A Northern Ontario Fastball Association is real serious talks at the moment and will be discussed at the all-star game in Elliot Lake. It would encompass  Manitoulin Island , the North Shore ,Greater Sudbury with the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League and possibly the North Bay Senior Men's Fastball League .. If all come aboard you're talking about  30 fastball men's team that would be affiliated into one association governed by one member from each unit . This might bring into not to far away   interleague play that would count in each individual leagues.

                          LONG LIVE  FASTBALL!!!

                                                                                           Yours in fastball ,
