Before the game got underway , Bob Alexander  the voice of Moose 94.1 in Blind River threw out the opening ceremonial first pitch..No different from the 2006 and 2007 all-star games this was also a classic in one sense of the word. The visitors , Rick McDonald Memorial fastball all-stars under the direction of head coach Jim Ilnitski and general manager Roger Legendre scored two runs in top half of the first inning  on two base hits , one double by Rob Cardinal  couple of base on balls and two fielding errors from their opponents. The North Shore all-stars replied immediately in their half of the first  manufacturing 4 runs on 4 base hits one 3 run shot deep to left field by Jordan Bennett and a solo home run by Liam Halligan to take a 4-2 lead . The Rick McDonald boys scored two more runs in their half of the second on one base hit , 4 walks in a row and 2  fielding errors by the home team .That was all the scoring  as Al Guenette shut down the opposition for the next three innings in relief of starter Randy Dennis .Starter and only pitcher to be used by the North Shore , Cory Stolar did the same . The rain came pouring down after and the game was called . In resume of all three all-star games  you have the sunny game of 2006 at the Terry Fox Sports Complex that was won in nine innings 7-6 by the Rick McDonald League , the frigid game of 2007 at the Hanmer ball field that was once again won by the Rick McDonald league 6-5 in 7 innings and finally the mud game of 2008 played in Elliot Lake that finish in a 4-4 draw being called after 5 innings due to the pouring rain .
All players from both sides would like to send out a very large thank you to the Elliot Lake organizing committee and especially Delene Peltier.

As they would say that's history for fastball in the North in 2008 .We will see you soon next Spring 2009.

                                                                                                                  Yours in fastball ,

                                                                                                                   Roger Legendre
