2009 U19 International Men’s Softball Championship Schedule Released
 
Softball Canada and the organizing committee of the 2009 U19 International Men’sSoftball Championship are hard at work to prepare for the event that will take place in Charlottetown, PEI from July 7th to 12th, 2009. The event will feature a total of fourteen (14) teams, including eleven (11) Canadian Provincial and Territorial teams (Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island), as well as three (3) International club teams (United States, Mexico and New Zealand). The international flavour should add plenty of local excitement for the inaugural event!
 
The fourteen (14) teams will be divided in two pools of round-robin play, meaning each team will play six (6) games in the preliminary round. The top four (4)teams of each division will advance to the playoff round, with the top two (2)teams of each division having double life. The Championship game will takeplace at 5:00pm on July 12th, 2009
 
Teams that do not advance to the playoff round will play in a relegation tournament called the City of Charlottetown Championship. The Championship game for the relegation round will be played at 7:00pm on July 11th, 2009.
 
The organizing committee has launched a website for the event and it can be found at http://www.charlottetownsoftball2009.com  The website includes plenty of information about Prince Edward Island’s touristattractions as well as volunteer opportunities and many tournament details, including the full schedule, ticket information, sponsorship packages, and the location of the ball parks in Charlottetown. In the “Teams” area, there are many links that will help teams plan their stay.
