Quyon Tournament Results

June 12, 2006

Quyon, QC

Quyon QC

After a couple of days of miserable weather, the sun came out on Sunday and the St-Leonard Express only needed 4 games to capture the 1st annual Quyon Flyers Jr Mens Fastball tournament.  The Express beat the hometown Flyers in Sundays final.  The score was 7-0 in the final game.  The final standings are as follows.
1. St Leonard Express (4-0)
2. Quyon Flyers (3-2)
3. Orleans Rebels (3-2)
4. Blackburn Bombers (2-2)
5. Ottawa Greys (1-2)
6. Valley Raiders (1-2)
7. Micksburg Jr.s (0-2)
8. Eastmain Fireballs (0-2) No Show!!!!!

For the 4th time that I am aware of and who knows how many other times this has happened, the Eastmain Fireballs were a no show.  They have done this to Stittsville in 2004, St-Leonard in 2004, Shawville in 2004 and now Quyon in 2006.  Even though they were paid up this time, I am told that @ the other tournaments they didnt pay.  I received an email from them on Friday afternoon saying that they were on their way, but Saturday morning they were nowhere to be found!
With all of the lists that are in fastball today (ISC Super Pitchers, ISC II banned Pitchers, ISC II super pitchers list) maybe it would be a good idea to start a team BLACKLIST!  I think that in general any team would sooner get beat by ISC players than not get to play a game because of a team that doesnt show up!  Now they are expected to be at the ISC II qualifier in Fitzroy Harbour this weekend to play in the Opening Ceremonies against the hometown West Carleton Electric.  I am sure like every other game in Fitzroy Harbour, the stands will be packed with the hometown crowd expecting to see an exciting game from their home team.  I hope for Adam Brown's sake that they don't leave him hanging like they did to our team this weekend and other teams in the past.  I would recommend to any tournament organizers in the future to not allow Eastmain in your tournament.  Even with the cheque in the bank there are no guarantees they will show.  I don't understand the reasoning behind this but obviously money is not an issue for them.  I hope they realize that the fastball community is tightly knit and that all managers will be aware of this.
Despite that problem and the help of other teams understanding that in a double knockout, byes would be necessary, a good time was had by all.  I would like to personally thank all of the Flyers team, management and volunteers  for all of their hard work as the money is much appreciated for our trip to the Junior Nationals this summer in St- Leonard.

See you at the park
