CT at "Area Tournament"

June 13, 2006

Denmark, WI

June 9-11
Denmark, WI

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team hosted the WI/Upper Michigan "Area
Tournament" and came away with a 1-3 record (10-9 overall). It wasn't a
tournament in terms of who plays who but get some good games in against
good teams from the area. We have secured an at-large bid to the World
Tournament for playing in the league in May. Missing was Don Garvey and
Bryan Hansen. Thank you to Kyle Van Abel for filling in as well as newly
acquired catcher Jeff Wartman who will be with us various weekends the
rest of the way.

This was a very frustrating game as we made numerous physical and mental
errors. The Tappers would grab a 1-0 lead in the 2nd as Kyle Magnusson
led off with a double, with one out Kevin Reichardt singled advancing
Magnusson to 3rd. Todd Malnory sinled driving in a run with runners on
1st and 2nd. Darren Derricks singled loading the bases. Jamie Knudson
then hit a ball into shallow left field which was caught by the shortstop.
Reichardt tagged up and scored, however was called for leaving early.(wow)
Townline answered in the bottom half on RBI singles by Travis Southam,
Nick Lamphere and Aaron Nemia after the leadoff man reached on an error.
CT made the score
3-2 in the 3rd as Jess Ellestad led off with a double, with one out Chris
Delarwelle drew a walk, Kyle Magnusson hit a laser to left for an RBI
double Delarwelle tried to score from first but was gunned down 7-6-2.
Townline added another run in the bottom of the sixth as Aaron Nemia hit a
high fly ball in the infield which dropped behind 3rd base and he landed
on 2nd and would later score on a passed ball. Jess Ellestad led off the
7th with a triple. With one out Delarwelle was intentionally walked for
the 2nd time in the game. Kyle Magnusson followed with his 3rd triple of
the game on another laser to left that the fielder lost in the lights.
Ellestad scored and Delarwelle again tried to score from 1st but again
perfect throws 7-6-2 got him at the plate for the 2nd out. Magnusson
stood on 3rd with two out 4-3 game but the next hitter grounded out.

This was a matchup of the Grafmeier final but it went bad real fast. Ryan
Wolfe led off the game with a rope over the left field fence. Harvey
Stevenson also hit a 3 run shot in the first as the Farmers led 6-0 after
a half inning. The Farm would go up 7-0 in the 3rd on a Todd Budke base
hit, Keith McIntosh base hit and Stevenson ground out. CT made it a 7-2
game as Kevin Reichardt led off the bottom of the 3rd with a base hit
followed by a Tom Crouch two run shot. The Farm scored 5 more times in

This game was a good tight game unlike the day before. The Farm did take
an early lead in the bottom of the first as Paul Rosebush hit a one out
triple followed by a Todd Budke home run down the right field line. The
Tappers would make it a 2-1 game in the 4th as Magnusson led off by
