Aurora Earns 2009 ISC WT Berth

The Aurora Dolan & Murphy Shamrocks improve to 15-1 outscoring opponents 30-3 in winning the Dick Tracy Tournament in Rockford, IL this past weekend. In doing so, Aurora earned a berth to the 2009 ISC World Tournament in Quad Cities, IA/IL, August 14-22. The Shamrocks have started the season very strong behind the dominant pitching of Doug Gillis (3-0) and Ales Jetmar (8-1).   In addition, the Shamrocks have come out of the gate hitting. With a deep roster of ISC-experienced hitters, Aurora has outscored its opponents 112-11 over its first 16 games.

The Shamrocks opened the weekend with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Thomson, IL. Ales Jetmar pitched extremely well against the solid Thomson offense holding them to 1 run through 6 innings. Aurora had several opportunities to score against Midland’s Sean Kelly. Unfortunately, Dolan & Murphy left a number of runners on base and made several miscues on the base paths and on defense throughout the game. After battling back to tie the game, the Shamrocks lost in the bottom of the 7th.

David Schuett + PJ Mckinney  each had 2  doubles
The Shamrocks battled well at the plate against Mike Jamison with a consistent flow of runners all day. Doug Gillis had a very dominant performance on the mound tallying 14 k’s against the ISC II bound Warsaw Stagboys.

The Shamrocks came out of the box hitting, scoring 7 runs in the first inning. Ales Jetmar shut down a very potent Chicago offense who are also headed to the ISC II in August.

Once again, the Shamrocks wasted no time getting runs on the board against last year’s ISC 23-under Champion BAC Pride. Doug Gillis dominated once again recording all but 3 outs with strikeout pitches (12k’s in 5 innings). Cooper Carson had a Homerun to right field.

After finding themselves down 1-0 early in this tough contest, the Shamrocks battled back to tie the game at 2 before finally scoring in the bottom of the 7th on a hit by Camden Decker. Aurora battled again against Midland’s Sean Kelly with many runner on base throughout the contest. Ales Jetmar was extremely aggressive against Thomson’s tough offense. He seemed to get stronger as the game went on, giving Aurora time to finally push a third run across.  Jim Pecoraro had a bomb to left field in this matchup.
 
 
The Shamrocks are next in action this Friday, May 22nd as they open up against the 2009 ISC host Quad City Sox in the Walcott Memorial Day Tournament. #16 ranked Aurora looks forward to competing in a very tough pool which includes: #5 Midwest Stampede, #17 Quad City Sox, and #25 Wintersett A’s. Pool B includes #8 Albaugh Inc, #22 Thomson Merchants, as well as unranked New Image and Liter.
