Palermo opened the scoring in the first as Jamie Robinson smacked a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball to make it 1-0 Athletics.
 
There was no scoring until the 4th, when Palermo made it 2-0. Mark Cameron walked, moved to second on another walk and scored on an rbi single from Brian Prowse.
 
In the 5th, Palermo sealed the win with 3 runs. Tom Berube was driven in by Mark Korten to make it 3-0 and the A's got two more on an infield error to make it 5-0.
 
In the bottom of the 6th, Brick Brothers got on the board when Matt Murphy bunted for a single, moved up on an error and scored on a hard line out to centerfield by Dylan Cunningham.
 
Gord Scott pitched a very effective game for Palermo, giving up 4 hits & striking out 8.
 
Defence was also sterling for both teams.
 
For Palermo, Shortstop Tom Chater made two excellent plays in the 2nd inning, while Korten at first base also made a good play to preserve the lead in the 5th.
 
For Owen Sound, Darren Newson displayed a rifle arm cutting down both an attempted steal and later a bunt. Plus, Rightfielder Matt Kuhl chased down a fly in the corner, wheeled and double the man off first base for an inning ending double play

Bob Blamhauer opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd with a solo homer.
Brick Brothers avoided further damage in the inning by turning a rapid 5-3-6 double play.
 
In the 4th, Palermo extended the lead to 2-0 as Pitcher Tom Berube got aboard and scored on an rbi single from Chris McColl.
 
In the 6th inning, Palermo broke it open with another 3 run inning.
First, Brad Robinson crushed a solo home run over the fence in centerfield.
Cyril Knibbs followed a few batters later with a 2 run homer in the leftfield corner to make it 5-0.
 
Palermo complete the scoring in the 7th as Dave Kingdon got on with a fielder's choice, and scored on Blamhauer's single.
 
Berube went 5 scoreless innings for Palermo to get the win, giving up 3 hits.
 
Chris McColl pitched the last two innings, retiring the first 5 batters in order, loading the bases and then getting Matt Kuhl to end the game with a flyout.
 
Palermo played 6 times in Owen Sound on the weekend, going 2-2 & 2.
 
Saturday, the Athletics lost two and tied 2 against the Owen Sound Senior Selects, before sweeping the Sunday doubleheader against the Volkswagen Junior Selects.
