..  OASA Minor Elimination Tournaments

1. Peewee Eliminations held at Packham Fields, Stratford  June 26-28

Napanee Express will look to defend their 2008 Peewee Elimination crown
as 16 teams from across Ontario meet in this three day, double knockout
fastball event that features the top 14 year and under fastball clubs
in Ontario.  The top two teams of this OASA tournament earn an
automatic birth into the Eastern Canadian Championships to be held in
St. John's Nfld. in late August, an event in which the Express medalled
last year.  The results of this elimination tournament are also used to
seed teams for provincial championship play in August. 

2. Bantam Eliminations held at Napanee Fairgrounds, July 3-5

The city of Napanee will host the OASA Bantam Elimination tournament
July 3-5. Sixteen teams of 16 years and under boys' fastball clubs from
across Ontario will compete for bragging rights as the best in Ontario.
The top two tournament finishers will also receive automatic invites to
the Eastern Canadian Championships which will take place in August in
Nelson and Miramichi, New Brunswick.  The Stratford Memorials won the
Elimination tournament last year and earned silver medals at the
Eastern Canadians. The Memorials will look to defend their title in
Napanee but will face stiff competition from a strong field of teams.

3. Midget Eliminations held at Hillside Park, Waterloo  June 26-28

 Hillside and Waterloo Park ball diamonds will host the Ontario Amateur
Softball Association's Midget Boys' Elimination Tournament June 26-28.
More than 20 midget (under 19) clubs from across the province will
compete for the honour of representing Ontario in the Eastern Canadians
in St. Gervais, PQ and the Canadians in Prince Albert, Sk later this
summer.  Defending Ontario champs, the Napanee Express,  will face a
stiff challenge from the likes of the Paris Predators, Oshawa Double
Bees and the hometown KW Twins. Action begins Friday afternoon with the
finals slated for Sunday afternoon at Hillside Park.

Elimination tn't.  I can forward those lists to you then.

B. KW local news items



1. Kitchener Waterloo Minor Boys Softball Association will host the
14th annual Midget Boys Invitational Fastball Tournament at  Hillside
Park, Waterloo and Conestoga Park   June 6 and 7.  Twelve under 19
fastball clubs from across the province will compete for top honours in
three divisions. Last year's "B" and "C" champions the local KW Twins
and the Paris Predators will look to defend or improve their 2008
results.  Strong midget clubs from Owen Sound, Osahwa and Sydenham will
compete in this  tune up tournament for the Ontario Eliminations. Games
begin at 9 am Saturday with the championship finals scheduled for 1pm
on Sunday.  Admission is free.



2.  Local Fastball Players off to International Tournament

Cory Way and Brendan Roach will be off to Charlottetown, PEI    July
7-12 as members of Team Ontario's Under 19 Fastball Club that will
compete in the Men's Under 19 International Championship. Cory and
Brendan are both long time members of the KW Twins fastball program and
have enjoyed previous out of province competition. Both were part of a
Waterloo Twins team that won silver in the Eastern Canadians in
 Placentia, Nfld in 2005.  Brendan also saw action in the Midget
Canadian championships held last summer in Brantford. The Team Ontario
club will face opposition from other provinces, the Territories the
United States and New Zealand.  Brendan and Cory's home club the KW
Twins play out of the North Waterloo Minor Softball Midget Division.
Last year they won the league crown as well as the OASA "B" provincial
championship. Brendan who is developing into one of the premier
pitchers in the province and Cory, a slick fielding infielder with lots
of pop in his bat, look to play an important role in this first
International Tournament that replaces the Summer Games for softball
competition.
