Below is the obituary for Rick Winger that appeared in today's Niagara Falls Review. Rick's death at such a young age was a real shock to all the players in our league to say the least. Although Rick retired a few years back from Cool Hand Lukes his brother Ron continued to play and that would bring Rick to the park occasionally. For anyone who knew Rick, they can attest to him being a great friend and teammate and I know the Lukes guys will be taking this difficult news especially hard. Rick and Ron are part of the Fort Erie contingent of Lukes who all figured very prominently
over the years for the Lukes squad. Rick and all the Fort Erie guys helped bond that team to this day they all remain best of friends with each other. Rick and Ron were very close and all the players in our league wish the entire Winger family and especially Ron their deepest condolences and God's blessing.

Obituary for Richard Shawn (Rick) Winger

WINGER, Richard Shawn (Rick) - at home on Sunday June 14, 2009. Rick Winger, beloved husband of Diane and loving father of Shawn and Megan. Much loved son of Gerry and Donna Winger and Gary and Eileen Kendrick. Dear brother of Gary, Ron, Todd and Tammy. Predeceased by his brother Darrell Kendrick in 1987. Friends may call at THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway from 7-9 Thursday and 2-4 and 7- 9 Friday. Funeral services will be conducted in St. George's Catholic Church on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Winger Children's Trust.
