SoftballCanada Names 2009 Women’s Youth World Cup Team
 
(Ottawa,ON) – Softball Canada is very pleased to announce the list of seventeen (17)female players who have been selected to represent Canada at the EastonFoundation Youth World Cup, which will take place in Prague, Czech Republicfrom August 10th to 16th, 2009. The Easton FoundationYouth World Cup will feature the very best 16 year old players from twelve (12)countries, which includes Canada, China, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic,Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Africa, Venezuela andZimbabwe. Each country is also allowed to have two 17 year old players on theirroster.
 
JuniorWomen’s National Team Head Coach Tony Foti (Winnipeg, MB) will lead the teaminto Prague, while Glenn Boles (St. Catharines, ON) and Shan McDonald(Scarborough, ON) will serve as assistant coaches. Two-time Olympian AlisonBradley (Pinkerton, ON) will serve as the Team Manager.
 
“Weare very excited with the group of young ladies we have selected for the EastonFoundation Youth Softball World Cup” stated Foti. “Traveling to Prague will bea unique experience for the team and will be a great introduction tointernational softball for this young group of athletes.”
 
Theteam was selected from three regional Evaluation Camps that were held inOakville, Ontario, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Surrey, BC over the past month.
