    HAWKS SCORE 13 RUNS,ATHLETICS WIN THEIR FIRST GAME
 
                                                                         The Sudbury Athletics playing very well lately ever since their return from the Silverfox tournament in North Bay finally came up with their first win of the season , a 4-2 victory over the first place Cardinals.It was a strong defensive battle between both pitchers and the fielding.The Athletics scored single runs in the 3rd and fifth frame while the Cardinals did the same in the 1st and second innings . There was one out in the bottom of the 7th inning with one runner on first by virtue of a base on balls when Gregg Gilbert came to bat and on a 2 and 2 count he hit a two run shot to left field for the victory. Pat Sr Brennan got the win , his first of the season on 4 hits ,1 base on balls and 4 strike outs while Jonathan Contin was tagged with his second loss of the season on 10 hits , 2 walks and 7 strike outs . Bruce McDonald led the Athletics chargers with a 2 for 3 performance with teamate Gregg Gilbert  going 2 for 4 (two run winning homer) while Moe Aho hit 1 for 3 (tripple) in a losing cause for the Cardinals.
                                                                            In the nightcap , it was a nightmare for the slumping Garson Hounds as the Parry Island Hawks got to work in the second frame and pounded the Hounds with 24 hits on their way to a 13-1 victory and a tie for first place.  Al Guenette with his second victory of the` season went the distance for the Hawks giving up 7 hits, 1 base on balls and 1 strike out while Gary Lamothe was tagged with his fourth straight loss on 24 hits  and 2 strike outs. Walter Jr Tobobundung led the way for the Hawks with a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with teamate Jason Green having a super evening at 2 for 4(2 three run homers) while Chuck Jacobs hit 2 for 3 (double) in a losing cause for the Hounds.
                                                                            Play resumes Monday night in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park when in the first game slated for 7 PM , the Garson Hounds will be looking to escape their four game slump when they take on the fourth place Dog House North Stars. That will be followed with the nightcap under the lights at 9 PM with the surging Athletics facing the Pickerel River Cardinals(a rematch of Thursday's game).
