Nominations open for the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame
OSHAWA, Ont. –
Nominations are being soughtfor the 14th induction of the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame, which isscheduled to take place in November of 2009.
The Hall of Fame honours former student-athletes, coaches and administrators atthe institution. There have been 34 individuals honoured at 13 inductions sincethe Hall of Fame was established in 1997.
Candidates for election will be chosen on thebasis of player ability, sportsmanship, character, contribution to theirparticular sport, the honour brought to Durham College and to sport in general.
“We have had some amazing induction classes since the Hall of Famewas launched in 1997,” said Durham College athletic director Ken Babcock.“With the incredible people we’ve had involved in Durham Collegeathletics over our 40 year history, this amazing trend will continue.”
The purpose of the Durham College Sports Hall of Fameis to recognize and honour the achievements of Durham College individuals whohave attained prominence and distinction in a sport offered at Durham College,and those who have made a major contribution to the development and advancementof athletics at Durham College.
The Hall of Fame also permanently records and gives public prominence to theachievements of such individuals. Nominees in the athlete category must haveparticipated for a minimum of two years and must be a Durham College graduate.

Should you wish to nominate someone, please read the eligibility details listedonline and submit the nomination form (attached or online) in accordance withthe deadline for nominations. It is preferred that all persons submitting anomination form include the signatures of the nominator and a member of theselection committee. Completed nomination forms can be mailed to the addressshown on the form, or faxed to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee at (905)721-3117.
