Steve called Fastpitch Softball the greatest game that’saround.  He loved playing the game.  He had 5 sons.  He raised them himself.  As a jovial and loving father his kids grew up with himevery summer at the ballpark.  To us players we heard of the days when hedared batters to hit the ball over his head in centerfield.  He backed upthis story by saying as a player gets older it’s time to switch positions so at the age 40 he switched from centerfield to catcher.  I was puzzledby that but when I first played catch with Steve it was obvious that at 55 yrs his arm was still live.  His was an old school approach but with the idea that we are going to have fun first.  With all the stories and lore of Minnesota Softball that were told it was obvious the gem of his memory was winningthe Minnesota Class C State Championship in 2001.

He vividly recalled every moment of the tourney.  It meantsomething to him.  He won it together with his sons as a team.  Trulya dream come true for many of us fathers.
His legacy is the gift of life and he shared his favoritepastime with his family and friends.  We loved him for it.
