Canadian Women’s Softball Team Set to Begin Pan American Championship
(Maracay,Venezuela) – The Canadian Senior Women’s National Team, fresh off a Silvermedal finish at the Canada Cup and a Bronze medal at the KFC World Cup ofSoftball, will open its Pan American Championship schedule tomorrow when theywill take on Argentina (9:30am EDT). The event will run from July 31stto August 9th in Maracay, Venezuela where 22 teams will vie forqualifying berths for the 2010 ISF XII Women’s World Championships and for the2011 Pan American Games.
TheUnited States have an automatic berth to the 2010 ISF XII Women’s WorldChampionship as the host country of the event, which will take place inOklahoma City, OK. The five other top teams from the Pan American Championshipswill secure a spot for the event.
Ashost of the 2011 Pan American Games, Mexico receives an automatic berth forthat event, with the seven top teams (excluding Mexico) from the Pan AmericanChampionship earning a spot for that event.
