Day 3 & 4 Report for the NAFA A-Major World Series

August 17, 2009

Sioux Falls, SD

Results from day three and four of the NAFA AA World Series in Sioux Falls, SD taking place this weekend, August 13-16. All games are being played at Harmodon Park. The weather on Saturday was very wet with drizzle falling most of the day. Due to weather conditions, reports were not able to be reported on Saturday night.

There were two stoppages of play due to lighting in the immediate area, the first being at 8PM with games delayed for an hour. The second was later in the night with the only game in progress being suspended for the remainder of the night. However, Sunday's weather was beautiful and all games were completed.

The Topeka Toro’s of Kansas rolled through the winner’s bracket with a perfect 6-0 record including a 7-0 victory in the championship game against the Manor Dirtbags of Texas. Brian Young was in the circle for the Toro’s against Rick Barker of the Dirtbags.

The Toro’s jumped to an early lead posting three runs in the first inning and then added to more in the second, including a triple by Bryan Stroth. The Toro’s final runs came in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Most Valuable Player of the tournament Fernando Esquivel. Young scattered four single by the Dirtbags for the complete game victory and title for the Toro’s.
