Softball Canada's Elite Team falls to Michigan Ice by a score of 8 - 3

Canada Elite iced by Michigan 8 - 3

 

(Ottawa, ON) - Softball Canada's Elite Team fell to the Michigan Ice in game two of a four game mini U.S. Tour by a score of eight to three.

 

Canada Elite took to an early two run lead in the top of the second with their final run coming in the third.  Shannon Rossiter (Surrey, BC) and Jennifer Yee (North Delta, BC) led the Elite team in hitting with Rossiter going two for three at the plate with a home run and a double and Yee going two for three at the plate with a double and a single.

 

Ashley Lanz (Winnipeg, MB) received the start for Canada Elite allowing only one run in almost six innings of work.  Lanz, who was relieved by Katie Rosentreter (Winnipeg, MB), returned late in the sixth inning to close out the game.

 

The Ice battled back to tie the game in the fifth inning and capitalized on three Canadian defensive errors in the sixth inning to score five runs and take the lead.

 

The Michigan Ice will host Canada Elite in game three of the U.S mini tour at Currie Stadium in Midland, Michigan on Saturday June 24th and again on Sunday June 25th.
