Orillia District Fastball League Finals

The Orillia District Fastball League finals start Tuesday night in Brechin with the Udney Bullets playing host to the Rama Braves and a crowd of 150 at the Brechin Ballpark. The Bullets gained home field by being the regular season champions and handed the ball to pitcher Steve Jacobs to start the game. Rama Braves responded with Jamie Snake. The Bullets started the scoring in the 2nd inning with runs from Drew Moore, Mike Harvey and Matt Burns to take a 3-0 lead. That lead didn’t last long as Darren Snake hit a 2 run homerun and the top of the 3rd Inning and Jeff Shilling hit a solo homer to tie the game in the top of the 4th inning. The game didn’t stay tie long as the Bullets fired back and banged Braves pitcher Jaime Snake for 6 runs and causing the Braves to bring Kyle Ledrew in to hurl. The teams traded runs in the 5th to make the score 10-4 Bullets.. Rama rallied again with in the 6th inning when Clint Noganosh and Kyle Ledrew each cracked 2 run doubles to make it 10-8. In the bottom of the 6th Mike Havrey, Matt Burns and Jamie Heitzner each had R.B.I hits to extend the Bullets lead to 13-8. The Braves marched back 7th inning as Chad Murdoch hit a 3 run homerun to chop the bullets lead to 13-11. Murdoch had some words for Bullets pitcher Steve Jacobs while rounding the bases as he was hit-by-pitch in his previous at bat. The Braves comeback came up short when with the tying run at the plate Steve Jacobs got Sam Benson to ground out to shortstop Jaime Heitzner to end the game. After a ridged game one this series looks to have all the makings of a classic battle. Both teams will renew hostilities for game 2 Tuesday September 8th at Rama’s Veterans Field with a 7pm start time.
